Regardless of if you like them or not, 1D broke into America in a case of simply the right place at the right time. Breaking into America seems to be the key to getting famous everywhere. McFly tried to early in their careers but it was when "boy bands" (I use that loosely as I don't consider them one but they were looked at as one for a while) were going out of style in the states, unfortunately. I think that really discouraged them from trying to gain some traction here ever again.

Because KZfaq was around for one direction since their beginning, mcfly started in 2004 so they had about 8 years of having to work for hits rather than just viral vids

I'm really proud of Duggy cos getting over addiction will be by far the hardest thing he will have to do in his life. The best way too explain it is. It's like you're down a deep deep hole and all your life trying to get out. Even if you make it out staying out is the hardest challenge. Please Duggy don't slip back down there. Stay strong.

Instead of complaining why they aren´t much more famous , be happy that they aren´t !. Population and "Fangasm´s" from People ruined so many Bands . Or they changed their characters or Music into a direction nobody was happy with . So be happy YOU know em (or don´t be happy ^^ , depends on the Person ...lol) . Just Support em as much as you want and can , but dont complain about beeing famous all over the world or not. - Greetings
