This is one of the most ableist "professional" videos I have ever seen. For starters, autism isn't just a solely empathy related disorder. As a autistic person, who is capable of very high levels of empathy, I must say that your correlation is lacking. Many on the SPECTRUM have sensory issues, struggle with change/need routine, can get overwhelmed with emotion, difficulties learning is an issue too. Baseless assumptions can be both harmful and hurtful, especially within the context of someone who's meant to be an expert. Lastly, I really hope none of you told the kid there's anything wrong with him. Like his brain doesn't function like it should.

Thank you! I found this video super offensive! Especially when the guy said "what went wrong in their brain to make them suffer from autism" or something, that was awful!

At no point do they suggest autism is related to one part of the brain. I've never heard anyone suggest that. You sound angry and like you've got a fair bit of oppositional/ defiance stuff going on. It's quite common with autism and I'm sorry you see things that way. You can influence that if you wish, but a defensiveness regarding the mind, even if demonstrably impaired, is also common with autism.
@GeorgeMakrides2 жыл бұрын
Omg, thanks for saying that. “What’s going wrong in the brain?” What a wrong way to look at it. How about “let’s understand the difference in our way our brains work?” Most people with autism I know are highly empathetic. I can relate to how other feel. How they think is a different story. Do they even think before saying offensive things? 🤔 😂

my youngest child now is 5 just got diagnosed with autism in October..it took a long time waiting in line to get the testing especially because when we applied for it you couldnt get testing at all cause covid happened. so it's been backed up. he got all the testing and it says inspite of his communication and socialization skills his iq is actually 140. he has 160 in pattern recognition and 140 in pattern reasoning. he knows words way above grade level he scored 150 for word recognition. but putting the words together he scored 75. we still have to figure out why hes having a hard time stringing words together. be also has some behavioral issues like repetitive behavior no social boundaries with his peers like going into peoples spaces and touching them. and he also gets really angry when he cant articulate how he feels. and sometimes hits or throws tantrums. but hes actually the sweetest and most honest kid..he can't lie at all.. he can only tell you the truth. or at least what he believes to be true.

Interesting that autism is framed as a disorder. How about neuro-divergent from the typical? Doesn't mean the brain is disordered, rather it is other-ordered. I don't feel that I have a disorder. I've always felt that the majority just makes all the rules about how they want to communicate without having to bother to learn how others communicate. Of two people speaking different languages, should one person be considered disordered, or just processes the world differently?

Interesting video But Nothing going wrong in their brains ; retarded understanding of what is actually at play. Meeting one another in greater sensitivity , and through greater awareness of subtleties would resolve a lot of misunderstandings ; It’s an open invitation into a simplified way of being present with one another ; transcending the habit of translating everything into complex language structures . being aware of a non-dual perspective of life...while witnessing the seeming paradox of polarized phenomena.... simply asks for a more holistic approach to life in general . Many.. so called “normal” ways of self defining oneself might not apply to the way someone in the autism spectrum would prioritize their way of perceiving life or in terms of how they operate their interactions .

no I can easily empathize with people, I even sometimes cry just because someone else is crying but to understand what other people are thinking and expect their even most basic reaction is impossible. Because of that I got falsely accused of many things and got scammed many times but if I see someone suffering then my day is ruined.
