It is possible in butanoic acid and 2-pentanone onwards as it requires gamma hydrogen.

Sir what is parent ion and molecular ion

Both are same. Within the ionization source, a molecule initially produces a molecular ion or parent ion. If it is stable then it will reach to the detector otherwise it will be further fragmented to produce a stable fragment ion. So in mass spectra we can observe molecular ion peak as well as fragment ion peak but which peak shows more abundance depends on their relative stability.
