This was the absolute WORST pitch the channel for the MCU yet. The pitch in this video was: just be the DCEU! You can't just force an entire Phase to be about one property nor be rushing things. If we are talking about "PHASES" or "ACTS", we should be the first act/phase period. This means restarting the MCU from scratch. There's no need to rush... especially not to space. One of the reasons why the grounded heroes aren't doing so well in the MCU currently is because the power escalation leading up to Thanos meant many of your Daredevil-esq heroes are meaningless. So, keep it super small... slow roll X-Men and Fantastic Four in Phase 2+. As powers ramp up in the Universe, Mutant hate can be rolled into the story leading into the formation of the X-Men. The Brotherhood could easily be a Phase 2 end climax. Phase 3 introduces the Avengers teaming up and focuses on AIM and Hydra. Phase 4 introduces the Fantastic Four and leads to a huge team up battle against Gallatus (while teasing the Phoenix Force, Infinity Stones, and Doctor Doom... who would be the next 4 Phases big bad.)

I personally don’t mind the tone because it works well for a comic book universe. I do think they need to decide what they want for each project and work around it, but other than that it’s fine. Because a scene that focuses on say Rocket Raccoon and Howard the Duck should be kinda goofy.

The cinematography and tone are the things that make the MCU successful. No one like the DCEU for a reason. The MCU is strong in both of those areas.

Better is subjective. I think Marvels is one of the best balanced tone wise, but the marketing made it seem a lot goofier and light hearted than it really is. I like it a lot more than anything we got before and including Endgame besides Iron Man 1 hahaha. Not every fan wants serious, dramatic action like Echo, Daredevil, or the Punisher or whatever. If Thor 4 was super dark and gritty it would have missed a big audience just as much as the current version did imo.

Remember that each saga has to span multiple franchises. You described one for the FF, then another for the X-Men, but what were then avengers and other Earth-bound heroes doing at that time. The need to get back to the 4 separate tracks City, Global, Galactic, & Dimensional in each saga! You cannot ignore 1 entire sector for an entire phase, or you’ll lose all the momentum gained in that sector.

Biggest issue I'd like them to fix is to actually make the averagers feel like a team again. Right now, they're just individual heros doing their own thing and have been that way for a long time. Even since like infinity war.

the main issue with Phase 4, as many have pointed out, is that it's not interconnected. It's just that. The writers for all these projects need to be aware of what's happening to the characters across the phase. We don't want a whole Wandavision/Multiverse of Madness situation again. We want coherent stories.

Phase 1 wasn’t interconnected outside of post credit scenes, but it worked. The problem is the individual movies have sucked.

Excited to watch this one! Personally I’m hoping Marvel does a Secret Wars (2015) styled soft reset / continuation of the MCU but as opposed to being from the perspective of Avengers it’s The X Men. Let the stories that have already been told stand, and eventually where and when necessary recast legacy roles to suit the stories being told.

Do you all seriously think rebooting the MCU will magically make it good again? Not that its even bad now but to reboot the MCU would be absolutely ridiculous. They had 25 billion dollar movies in a row. It's time you all accepted the fact that the MCU will never ever hit that mark again. You all need to be ok with the MCU not being perfect.

Not sure I agree that it can't hit that mark again, but I agree a reboot is a bad way of going about it. The thing is that Endgame really shouldn't have been as good as it was. The standard Hollywood timeline is one good movie and then it all goes down hill. How many franchises have gone on so long and peaked so late in the game? If they could do that, I think they can come up with amazing movies without a reboot. Even with characters that haven't done so well. The Hulk's first movie isn't popular and Thor had a couple of mediocre movies before Avengers and Ragnarok, but they ended up being awesome. Another problem with a reboot is all these characters have to be reintroduced. One of the strengths of the MCU is characters were introduced one at a time so when they all got together it meant something. Yet another problem with a reboot is they really shouldn't bring back Iron Man. Steve Rogers or T'Challa. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers had their stories and they are complete. Bringing them back would only cheapen them. T'Challa's story was never finished, but Bozeman so encompassed the role it seem disrespectful to recast him.

Secret Wars should be like one last hoorah for all the familiar variants imo. We should end up with All New All Different Avengers, and Deadpool should set up a full reboot for the mutants too

I really liked how the series wolverine and the x-men merged days of future past with the phoenix saga. I’d love to see something like that in live action but it would be a lot to deal with.

They should do the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Sagas like they did in the '90s X-Men cartoon. I want the Shi'ar, alien pirates, a crazy-ass pocket dimension in the M'Kraan Crystal ruled over by a godlike D'Ken, The Hellfire Club... THAT is what the film version of the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Sagas should have been. Just give me a near shot-for-shot remake of X-Men TAS' version with bombastic special effects and mind-melting CGI.

I agree with this idea, since the X-Men are currently more popular than the Fantastic Four, they probably should be at the forefront of the new rebooted MCU after the Secret Wars. But having the Fantastic Four as a close second is a really good idea as there's less characters so there's less interaction, but it makes for tighter storytelling. I really hope John Krasinski comes back as Mister Fantastic and Cillian Murphy is cast as Doctor Doom since they've worked together in A Quiet Place 2, so studios know they're already a good match. Pitting them as rivals would be so much fun as an audience member to see. I really hope it happens.

I think MCU Franklin and Valeria will finally make sense too. In the comix they're a couple of my least liked characters because it was like the writers had no idea what powers to give them. Valeria's best moment to me is when she gives Reed advice during the incursions, and he records a voice memo of advice for her too. I don't think Franklin has ever made that much sense though lol

The funniest part about the mcu and dceu "reboots" is that eventually, they'll end up bringing back the old actors at some point anyway since it's always technically a Multiverse.

This is a fun idea! The only thing that I would change is that while the Avengers and the X-Men are fighting over Jean, Doom swoops in to harness the power of the Phoenix in order to stop an incoming Galactus, while the F4 are trapped somewhere or dealing w/ the Surfer. Or maybe Doom harness’s Surfer’s power, but that may be too similar to a previous F4 movie. Anyway, they all battle Doom, defeat him, and Jean sacrifices herself to satiate Galactus.

talking of being "the main pillar of the MCU" made me think. Pillars usually work in concert with each other. My first thought was the four corner pillars of the MCU could be Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Midnight Suns. Then we could have solo projects from Thor and Spider-Man, as well as all the TV shows. and anyone from anywhere could and probably should be seen in each other's projects, but there's clear delineation between teams and threats they prefer to face.

Definitely selling me on Dr. Doom! Best case so far I've seen for making him the big bad in a large arc. The tension between Reed and Doom is also an excellent way to dust the Fantastic Four and make them feel less antiquated, which can be tough to do.

Dope video and great concepts. The only thing I'd change is make Beast the liaison between the Xmen and Avengers. Beast was an avenger before Logan, and he's been in politics. Now I'm aware Logan is the more popular character, but for storytelling purposes, this makes more sense.

Reason the Phoenix never worked in the movies is cuz they kept trying to keep things grounded. It’ll work in the mcu because even normal citizens are aware of supernatural things so it won’t be too out there there to adapt

I totally support The Dark Phoenix Saga being an extremely slow burn unfolding over the course of 5 or 6 MCU movies. Having all the complex emotions in the Dark Phoenix Saga requires a lot of time spent with Jean, Scott and the other X Men.

Imagine actually investing in some of the new characters, new teams, and potential stories only to get a reboot and start over again. If the MCU does a hard reboot that will be my official dropping off point. I'm not giving anymore time in watching Iron Man and Cap reform the Avengers again. I like moving forwards not backwards.

I like your idea for an AvsX movie. I'll miss the heroes/actors we've come to love since 2008 but a reboot/recast is preferable to basing future MCU projects on the replacement Marvel heroes they've been trying to build around since Endgame.

By the time Secret Wars comes out, I'll be at least 25. Kids growing up now and then, whether I like it or not, will say that my MCU is old. I say a soft reboot is needed so that all the heroes can coexist and their history makes sense. A rebooted MCU can do for new fans and kids what this MCU did for me, but so much more!

You know what I would love - Reed and Doom movies - but at the same time. Release both at the same time and there are actions in one that you see but don’t know until you watch the other movie. Watch both to get the full picture. Marvel needs to think outside the box a little better.

I love this idea! I would also love to see an adaptation of the recent A.X.E. (Avengers vs Xmen vs Eternals). I think with a reboot they could revamp the Eternals, make them interesting, and could very easily set up this conflict. Maybe we would see this as like a phase 12 mega crossover (boldly assuming MCU makes it that far)

I think it is too soon for a reboot because there are so many stories that they are teasing that would have to be pushed away that we won’t be able to properly explore. Like I need to know how Kate, America, Kamala, and other young characters team up and see them truly grow in their abilities. But I fear a reboot will prolong this to where they will need to set up a brand new young avengers team because I don’t think they could tell it properly with these characters in a reboot since they will have no memory of the other universe if my understanding exists. I am okay with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four coming from another universe into 616 and some shenanigans like with the watcher or Wanda clarifying why they aren’t creating an incursion.

i really hope they eventually explore the relationship between the surfer and adam warlock. as well as adam warlock's on again-off again friendship with thanos (or at least mutual respect between the unlikely pair). that'd require thanos to re-emerge at some point, but this is a major perk of a reboot. obviously this would be many years down the road and any thanos-fatigue should have lifted by then (also I'm not advocating for a re-do of the infinity gauntlet adaptation).

The Fantastic Four movie should start with the 1960s FF fighting in the Negative Zone. Once the return, decades have passed but the team hasn't aged. Powered by tech developed in the Negative Zone, Reed quickly catches up to the current time line but at first they are like fish out of water... or maybe not,

Piggy backing off of what you were saying about annihilus(sp?); the dark universe he comes from to invade ours, should be the amalgamated remnants of everything left out of our rebooted universe. Now admittedly, I don't know anything about annihilus, but I think it would be cool if he was a corrupted version of one of our heroes from pre reboot. His invasion fueled by resentment at being left behind, his damnation caused by a selfless sacrifice at zero hour, being forgotten in the reboot and most importantly his jealousy at everyone getting a happy ending. Imagine if it was Thor or Bruce Banner, twisted and perverted to become a universe hopping world ending, hatred fueled, monster.

Lots of great ideas for stories! The only one I am meh on is Avengers vs X-men… I know its happened in the comics, but without a good story as to why its happening I think it would fall flat.

Loved the video, only changes I’d suggest is having X Men characters team up / appear in projects with other fellow heroes, and I’d leave the The Phoenix Saga for the culmination of the next Saga. Also, The Phoenix Force definitely already resides within the MCU without it there’d be no life in existence.

I think with the introduction of timelines etc makes it easy to do whatever you like with the mcu. One thing I think would be great is reshoot the ending of Infinity Wars to get it a classic ending with all of the avengers teaming up to defeat Thanos at the peak of his powers with the infinity stones. people less interested in the “messiness” of the multiverse would appreciate the throwback and the mcu could still continue with other phase 4 projects. Alternate endings and possible storylines is what this phase is all about right?
