these low cost Chinese camera's come without proper installation instructions, and the app doesn't behave like it does on the KZfaq film. It even states 'Configure success' if you enter a valid , an invalid or even a completely blank SSID. it's complete and utter crap.

Just want to point out how STUPID this is to have the wifi spot be on the device, constantly giving away the fact that it exists, instead of being a device that connects to YOUR network via configuration...a group of hackers staying at a rental noticed the wifi network, went looking for a camera, and found it. Doesn't matter if you turn off the broadcast either, it's still broadcasting. Also going to point out how stupid it is to have to download a fucking app to connect to the devices network and play-back a video stream : why not give the device a random IP address and port so end users can use VLC or something?

The wifi is just to allow you to set up the camera. Once connected you configure the camera to connect to whatever wifi you like then the camera does not emit an SSID.
