When was the last time you confirmed your water temperature? The micro bubbles on the glass can be caused when the new water added to the tank is a different temperature to the tank water. Keep inspiring. love the videos.

Thanks MD for always inspiring us. I shared my aquascaping/fishtank hobby with my colleagues from US and India over a video con call yesterday(there was an online event) and everyone went 'WOW'! They were all amazed and were very curious. I mentioned I do freshwater and grow plants underwater and keep fishes, shrimps and snails and have 4 tanks :) Sharing this with you coz you are one of the big reasons for motivation, inspiration and help to get success in the hobby. Been an ardent fan of your videos since 2019 :)

@@brendamurphy5685 settle down. MD is a very successful KZfaqr. He has a lot of influence, so I don't think it is a big deal if someone suggests resources so those mistakes can be minimised. He doesn't seem like a snowflake to me. Maybe I was a little terse, but I'm sure he doesn't want dead fish either. You have to stack the odds in your - and your livestock's- favour.

One thing I'd love to see you do which I'm currently doing is breeding tiger teddies. Their a rarer live breeding fish and even smaller than endlers but their so beautiful and the female doesn't drop all the fry at once and they all develop at different rates so over a week or 2 she will drop 1 fry every couple of days so the tank doesn't become overwhelmed quickly. The stripes on them and the iridescent blue on the tails is awsome. Everyone told me their very shy and skittish but the ones I'm breeding are the complete opposite and all come to the front of the tank when I come in the room. I started with 3 females and 2 males in a 10 litre tank because they are smaller than even shrimp. I have about 15 now so will be putting some into another tank shortly to grow out. Their brilliant for nano tanks and even shallow tanks.

Hi MD for the Apisto's, a terracotta plant pot on its side works well. You can also soften the sides of it with plants, or with your skills, use some bogwood to hide it under. I used to breed Rams like that all the time.. keep up the great videos. Me and the wife look forward to watching them.

I've got a pair of Rams in 84l tank with 12 blue neons (and some guppies I'm replacing with 2 Rinelocaria) there used to be 15 of them year ago. When in the mood, Rams would attack anything getting too close to "their spot". Blue neons tend to stick with lower middle parts which put them at odds with Rams at times. You don't want to put anything smaller with them however, unless it's a snack. Hatchets maybe? Unless they grow too big.

Rams of any sort need a very decent sized tank. Just a pair really need atleast 50 litres, to be fair a bit more even. The only time for keeping a pair in a smaller tank would be if it’s a temporary breeding tank and your intention is to remove the adults soon after.

MD! Get some pencilfish for the Ram tank. Pencilfish are awesome, think of them as tetras but less frantic swimming and more slender body (hence the name pencilfish). They would also do very well with the A. cacatuoides, pencilfish are the perfect dithers for Apistos, their mouths are small and they don’t predate on Apisto fry.

Overgrown tanks with thick brush reduce swim space. What's the point of having a big tank if only 1/2 is useable.
@christophersmith8028
@christophersmith8028 2 жыл бұрын
It reduces the amount of impurities and waste in the water, and it also creates a more realistic environment. I guarantee you that 90% of any fish in the hobby would rather be in a densely planted tank that mimics real life than a sterile empty glass box with “swimming room”. Lol if you want a boring box with room to swim you do you though. Great work as always MD!

@@christophersmith8028 Read the first word in my previous comment. Yes, plants are beneficial for the aquatic system. No one said anything about a baron tank but if not maintained it will take over the tank. Reducing swim space and inducing stress.

Lord there are a lot of fish in that super overgrown buddah tank. There is a point when "i like the way it looks" isn't the best thing for the fish and I think that tank, with the amount of fish in it, is well past that point.

sometimes I think an assistant would help...so many tanks and new fish. His approach works for his channel though. For me, I am at the point though that I work with what fish and tanks I have to keep too much going awry....that's what works for me. It's too easy for conditions of a tank and fish to get out of control. I understand the fun of purchasing new fish and adding new tanks, but it can start to become difficult
@wendy.allison
@wendy.allison 2 жыл бұрын
@@heaven7360 An assistant would be great for him if he let them actually keep on top of the tanks. He likes them over grown and out of control. They look pretty but there isn't enough "swim room" if it's full of plants. Sure, it might be a 120 gallon tank which would be plenty of room for even more fish of that size but when there are only a few gallons worth of space open for swimming it's not so good. I don't even have fish any more but I still watch this channel because he is great and makes me smile, he does create beautiful tanks but I think there are just too many for one person as well as needing to know when enough is enough as far as growth goes. I know he cares about his fish so it's weird to me that he doesn't notice the space issues or sees them and doesn't care.

You commented on the Apisto's 'lips', wait until you see him 'yawn', their mouths are massive. When they breed the female will go yellow, you need to keep an eye on her then as the females can be very agressive even to the male she bred with. My female killed her mate when she had her fry. I had the oranges like you and a pair of triple reds, they are very nice.

I don't think rams will attack them. I had 12 harlequin rasboras with 4 electric blue ram males in 120L, and 10 of them mystically started not to eat, and isolated themselves and eventually died. No idea what was it that killed them. Rams might carry worms but none of them seemed to show any signs of parasytes or such, exept the loss of appetite.

Kept German Rams for about 2 years and have never seen them chase other fish. Besides defending a small territory like your Bolivians were doing. The jumping more likely just to do with the type of fish and possibly stress from leaving the light on.
