I ride from Bilecik to Eskişehir. On the way, I have an amazing pide (Turkish pizza) in Söğüt. Finally, I walk around in Eskişehir, where I find a nice and well organized bazaar.

Turkey is a very safe country. Almost no crime. They have the best food in the world. Their breakfasts are very wholesome and wonderful and very welcoming to tourists. They do not discriminate based on religion, language or race. They say that he who eats and sleeps when his neighbor is hungry is not one of us.

Thanks for another interesting video Kino. Such a shame that you had a bad experience at the end, as you were so happy to begin with. You seem a genuine and kind hearted person, and it clearly got you down, but hopefully won't spoil the rest of your trip - you are always going to get that 1% of people like that. I remember backpacking solo through Turkey in the early 90's and being amazed at the friendliness and generosity of the regular people there - like being given watermelon by families on the beach, and offered food in the campsite. Also, a shopkeeper chasing after me to give me money back when I accidentally paid 10x the price for some bananas. I still remember what he said when I thanked him, 'Allah is always watching'. Wear a mask though when you go into shops (if you are not).

I definitely agree, regular people are very generous in Turkey, though, heavily overcharging tourists is very common in tourist areas in Western Turkey, it happened to me multiple times now, and also several times ten years ago, that's why I wanted to mention it, it is not really a "bad luck event", it is something that happens regularly if you are not careful.

If you mean the guy in nut shop by bad experience that's normal they do it to us locals also. The main aim is to not give out too many coins because the shops need them so they roll up the price like they did to you. But I agree with you on overcharging. İt happens sometimes in the west

Fascinating to see the loveliness of Turkey! I watched all your Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan and your trip across Africa, and there is something unique about Turkey. People seems sooo calm, life seems soo lovely, no single beggar or homeless on the streets, zero stress and foods everywhere. What is their secret? Every country should considering adapting Turkish lifestyle.

Türkiye is one of the unhappiest countries in the world. As Turkish people, we see homeless people and beggars for the first time due to the refugee crisis and economic crisis caused by Erdoğan. The country isnt getting better. People think that Turkey has just become rich, but in 1960, Türkiye was the richest country in the Asian continent. GDP per capita was higher than countries such as Japan, Korea and Spain. Since Islamist parties came to power in 1972, both our economy and our democracy have been dying. Because of this situation, the number of atheists and racists is increasing.

Yves, great channel. Im kinda sorry you had to skip European part of Turkey. There you won`t find anyone trying to scam you but trying to give you rakia or the like, just like they did in Serbia. Give us a heads up if you ever visit again.

Take it easy, man. Even we are native Turkish citizens, sometimes we also face with the same problem. 😂 😂 Especially, Turks from Germany. When they come to Turkey, generally %80 of them are always overcharged at everyshops ( at restaurants & hairdressers & souvenir shops etc ). You are not the onlyone 👋

P.S. Name and shame those restaurants. Although, it may not have been the management, rather the staff who thought they could make a quick buck.

It’s sad to hear restaurant owners taking advantage of tourists and language barriers to make few extra bucks.. if anything vloggers like yourself should be treated extra nice since you are promoting local culture and local businesses.. and that goes long way, way further then little bit of extra money they made by scamming you. Good businessman knows that.
@KinoYves
@KinoYves 2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you, but sadly, many people only see their immediate profit, and don't think at all about the long term.

@ I`m also pretty curious about that. recent comments like yourself asking the same question as well as I am, so that got me thinking, ,he edited the video somehow and the scamming part is absent now. Though it isn`t to my surprise, Turkish shopkeepers trying to abuse foreign customers, from what I saw they`ve been nice mostly, despite the language barrier.
