The 50 pound limit isn’t for the airplane weight! It’s actually for the people who are going to be lifting the suitcase. I recently learned this and it makes way more sense!

exactly!! It's because baggage handlers are often unionized and have in their contracts that they are not supposed to lift more than 50 pounds.

The baggage thing where you’re allowed to take the same items in different nags is to do with manual handling! The staff are only allowed to carry up to a certain amount so if it’s over then they’ll need 2 staff for the same job which is why if you take it on yourself, they don’t need the staff ! Thought you might want to know :) Loved the video as always Damon

Cuz my bf works at the airport and was in the room when I was watching this. He says: “It doesn’t have to do with how much weight YOU collectively have. Your checked bag has to be a certain weight because workers are only supposed to lift a maximum weight under regulations.” 😅 Love your channel Damon 😁♥️♥️

SO apparently there is a weight limit on luggage not cause of it needing to be a certain weight for the plane but because airline companies don't wanna cover medical bills for any injury of a worker lifting heavy luggage

Okay as an American who's lived and worked in France (brb je t'aime tropppp) I bought a book called "Sixty Million frenchmen can't be wrong" (à Shakespeare & Co. mdr) and LITERALLY IT'S THE BEST BOOK!! I have PTSD from your videos watching you try to get an apartment and bank account, and this book helped explain why the hell France is the way that it is. It was written by 2 Canadians and explains everything so well socially, politically, and economically from a North American living in France perspective. Donc si tu le connais pas, jeter un coup d'oeil quoi! ;)

I learned in my osha class that the reason you have to divide the weight amongst the bags is because the max a person is allowed to life is 50 pounds, so to be in the guidelines it has to be less, and if they weigh more it'll cost more to pay for the additional people to move it safely.

You pack like me. 🤣 I always bring a collapsible sports/duffle bag just in case my luggage is overweight. The books are going to be a problem too. It's cheaper to pay for a 2nd bag instead of an overweight bag. BTW the tight t-shirt looks good on you. 👍 Have a great time in NYC. Looking forward to your posts.
