26 күн бұрынHello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Do you like the earworm I gave you for the day in the title? Today, tonight, this morning...I'm not sure...we've been so busy.... Ethan and I embark upon another late night fishing trip. This is another in a series of videos about the dangers of driving in water. It seems that this young man was driving home during a heavy thunderstorm, hydroplaned, and went for a bit of a swim. Thankfully, the water in the ditch had gone down some by the time we arrived. And, believe it or not, the young man wasn't injured in the crash. I bring out our big fishing pole, #11, our Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator heavy towing and recovery unit. Ethan brings out our Peterbilt 337 with a Century LCG12 rollback (tilt tray). This is a NASTY job. The mud is thick and slick. So, I let Ethan do the "swamping". One of my perks...LOL.

Must have been a Kia Catfish... loves that mud! Although you would seldom need it, a 200 yard coil of Home Depot nylon line would have been easier to drag over to the car and then pull the cable in a straight line. In my garage, it would have been 150 yards of knots to untangle first. LOL

It won't be tangled up if you coiled it properly. Form a loop, then give it a half twist for the next loop. Alternate between straight loop, then half-twist loop until it is fully coiled. The line is then 100% tangle proof! This will work for hose, extension cord, et cetera!

A thought on righting the car. A wheel chock under the downside rear tyre with the tip pushed under the tyre might have helped with the sideways pull by the boom. Thinking is that as the tyre put pressure on the chock, it would have"dug into" the pavement providing the resistance required to allow the car to right itself. As always, multiple ways to 10 and the job got done.

Gotta feel sorry for younger people when this happens to their ride. Always play it safe and drive very slow if you have to drive through water on the road. Even a creeping speed should avoid hydroplaning.

It's a lot better than Baby... Jeep... Do... Do... Do... Do... Do... Do... It looks like there's less water in that ditch than what has been running through my basement. I can live with it. All of the water from north of you is heading your way. I'm praying for everyone. Water is the sustainer of life, but can just as easily be the taker. This weather has been crazy. Yankum rope does produce synthetic winch line that is 7/8 in diameter.

There's a big difference between the rating of a small winch line and cable rated for use in a crane.

Saw a youtuber that got audio from the headsets by putting a wireless mike in the earcup of the headset. Might could use a third headset and mike it up like that if you want us to listen in on everybody. Editor would probably have to sync the audio though. Just a thought.

I love watching you as you train others. And I love the variety if rescues to which you respond and recover. Keep doing what you do. You would enjoy synthetic rope. Several of the recovery companies that I monitor use them.

Ron; we had a contractor hit power lines with the boom on his track hoe; he was "situationally unaware of his surroundings" and he took out the power lines above his boom prepping the area for the flood up here in St. Paul, MN. The Rapidan Dam down south of Mankato, MN. the Blue Earth River broke through the land mass & it took out several houses & contractors removed the C store called the "Dam Store"; note the play on words.
