This took me ages to do. It’s a real monster of a bell. I tried to get it up right but failed miserably! Good sounding bell!

Next time have someone chime it with you, then once it's striking on both sides pull it up and trust me it will take a lot less time. I pulled Petworth's (18cwt) up on my own the first time I rang it up, and took me about 5 mins, of which 3 were just to get it chiming as it has an incredibly stiff clapper. The last two times I have rung it up, Luca helped me chime it until it was swinging both ways and I got it up in 2/3 mins! Up right both times

Yeah, when you start getting this tenor to chime you can chime it at the bottom for days on end. At the midway point the clapper goes on the wrong side.

Did you ask to ring it up alone? Sometimes at Chertsey Peter has helped me to get the tenor striking. I weigh tons more than you and tenors often lift me up!

I’ve only been ringing since February 2020 (not as long as it sounds lol) and that was painful to watch! Get the bell chiming, check the rope at the top to make the bell chime on each pull, this will stop the bell from going up wrong. Fewer coils, the tenor i ring is 16cwt and I still only take 3 coils. Once the sally starts to bounce you need to start ringing one handed, pull the sally as well or the bell will start to come back down and you’ll need to take a coil up again, which you did at least twice in this video. Also keep your hands together at the back stroke, there were times it looked like your hands were 12” apart, this was also pulling the bell back down which lead you to take a coil up. When the bell is nearly up and you’ve switched to ringing 2 handed you *really* need to keep the rope taught at back stroke, the last thing you want is for the rope to jump the wheel, it might not be a danger in your tower with decent bell wheels, but in other towers it might be!

You were doing it wrong. You don't pul it to the side, you pull it straight. I'm only 15 and have been ringing for 9 months but even I know that was wrong

I have acknowledged all of what you have told me. Have a look at my how to ring up big bells video. It will show you how it's done.

@@RingerThomas sorry for correcting you. You have been doing it way longer than me and so have your own ways as everyone does it differently. Can I also just said what a big fan of the channel I am and how I'm shocked you even responded to this comment

@@kaidenmccreath4269 I don't see why you should be ''shocked" by my comment. It was a fair reply saying that I have understood the mistake I made on this video. And then I directed you to an example of me doing it right. I think your too easily offended by something which you thought I was being rude about. Good day.

@@RingerThomas I wasn't offended by it, I just didn't think you would reply to my comment, thats all
