Damon, there’s actually no way for doctors or health professionals to know if a result is a false negative/positive. The only way of knowing is repeating it many times. It happens because the test isn’t «precise enough»
@Awesomegotham
@Awesomegotham 2 жыл бұрын
Also, many tests are done by lab techs or companies like Lab Core (In the States) instead of the physicians/doctors themselves. These assays are unfortunately susceptible to contamination, human error/not following protocol, lack of temperature regulation, etc.

It's surprising to me that society is so familiar with lab testing now through covid, more people than ever know that false positives or negatives are a thing. Why would he not think it applies to all forms of tests too? This is why, for example with covid, if you have a positive rapid test, you go get it verified by a PCR test. Like, confirmation testing if something is suspected to be wrong has always been a thing and will continue to be. It's dumb to assign blame because you wrongly assumed the testing method was *perfection* with zero error rate.

I hear you. When I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (in my toe of all places) that resulted in an amputation of my leg, I questioned EVERYTHING. Life, my purpose, questioning love, having a different view on material things, etc. Its like, once I realized that I could lose my life so easily… I began my awakening journey. This was 11 years ago, and I’m still learning. Great video!

When you said: "where do I need to go back to", I thought you traveling around the world is probably motivated by your search for that place. I think it is an inner place. 2021 completely broke me open and I’ve been questioning my existence and everything around me as you have. Ultimately, I ended up with more questions than answers and that is okay. I recently read a quote by Rilke that came to mind when I was watching this video: “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” Much love, Damon!

I can see it in a lot of KZfaq Creators since the pandemic, in fact anyone that's creative has lost their spark since the panda express. And now everyone has nothing to do besides sit and be with their mind and figure out what tf they actually want to do and if they're happy with their current situation. When you can't leave the house to actually find stimulation, that is literally kryptonite for creativity. And even though we're seemingly out of the woods, I'm unsure if this languishing will ever end, I sure hope it does.

I'm a medical laboratory student, False positives are common occurrence in the clinical setting. Could be from technical errors in the specimen handling/collection, interferences with vitamins, etc. Doctors who studied for years are not really at fault here since they only interpret the results. I dont know if this is any comfort to you, but false positives are always better than false negatives . Glad that test came out negative, you even went thru 4x times to make sure. I’ve felt like that a couple times too. It reminds me of a game I used to play when I was little called animal crossing wild world: anyone who played that game knows how hard you had to work to pay the house, but once you had fulfilled the final payment, the game made no sense. What we did then was delete the game and start from scratch. Funny thing, what helped me in real life has always been, the moment I get what I worked for and feel like “now what”, break everything, every sense of identity (money, social circle, the place you live, etc.), decide a new game (goals) and start again, even if you need to start from scratch. The point is not settling into an identity because once you have it, once the painting is finished, the act of painting is over, and contemplating alone can be boring. I see life as little games (goals) that I play (pursue) and when it’s over I find a new one. I don’t really care if nothing’s real or nothing matters, my time here is actually not that long so I’ll make the best while I’m still here. Btw I'm also 25 but you never know

The editing on this was so fun and creative! IDK, I'm one of those people who generally has decided that there is no point and and it's all random and the only task is to make our time here livable for ourselves and others -- our task is to live. Maybe growing up going to church and with a father who was a minister has worn out my interest in those questions or just made me more accepting of not having answers. I really like hearing you wrestle with the questions, though; that sort of engagement is absolutely part of your aliveness.

unbelievably relatable.. I'm scared of pursuing my future dreams and prefer to have them in my idealistic mind rather than make them into reality because I know its possible because 2021 my dreams started coming true and am scared of the question that's quietly sitting in my mind the " what now?", shallowing the dream and ew essentially I keep chasing places and dreams and ideas of the future to distract myself from the emptiness of that thought "what now? what's even the point?" but at the same time there's a part of me the human part of me, that seems to want to make my childhood self proud that childhood version of me watching me naively and quietly, and I want to love every part of this empty of meaning life because I suppose why not, there's so much detail in this universe and so much simplicity while we oblivious sometimes to the living art of life and nature around us, anyway I'm coming to accept the duality of the nihilism but also desire to feel and live as a human that is within me, there's really no point of anything but I'm too tired of Dragging the existentialism everywhere I go, it used to crush me so much, too tired to let it sit on my head, this is more for my own therapy lol 🍞

To answer one of your questions, all that I could think of going "where to go back to" was to back to your real self. It's also interesting to see how you think as an American. Eventhough you speak portuguese and French, you tend to think cognitively/existentialist. As a Brazilian Psychologist living in Paris, i realized that people here think more in a psychoanalitical/humanistic way If you were to follow Jung/Freud I believe you would go to LOTS of different places.... Actually, what a crazy talk this could become: different nationalities bring different generational memory transmission and ALL THAT needs to pass by the intervention of language so that we can symbolize. At the same type each language has it's symbol.

Ok ok. I am in love 🥰😍! Mainly with you… but also hearing about your trip. It aligns with so many spiritual traditions. I think the place that we are all trying to get back to is back to our center (nirvana, the universe, cosmic consciousness, the Tao, etc.). Getting back to living in full awareness of who we are (one with everything and everyone) and living life through that perfect awareness. You are right. YOU CAN DEFINITELY REACH THIS PLACE THROUGH MEDITATION. It takes more time, but you’ll have control and will be better led by your intuition vs. a psychedelic. Psychedelics are super useful, but not for long time use. 🙏🏽

let me overshare here a lil bit: when I was like 12 to 13 years old, I read super basic books (but very important to me), like, Aleph by Paulo Cohelo, or Sophie's world; basically, books to get you into philosophy. But, because I was so young, I feel like they made me question my life a lot more than I do today. All the things that Damon said, I had those same thoughts back then, but I just forget about them a little more every day. And it comes back to what he was saying about all of us knowing EVERYTHING, but just forgetting it. I'm barely getting into my twenties, and I'm already very nostalgic about those years. Basically, what I'm saying is, as kids we were very curious about life, and it's very sad that with time all that excitement goes away. Maybe if we could just keep a little of that innocent curiosity, life would be so much more exciting, and we could be better people. Or perhaps I'm just still seeing everything through a rose colored lens. All of that being said, this video was very, very therapeutic.

That’s so interesting that you had the “theme” I need to get back. Maybe everyone has their one trip theme. For me was fear and that I don’t need to have it. I feel that these themes are the things that we need to heal. Great to hear your experience

One of the best experiences I've had so far. Haven't done lsd but the trippy-ness i can relate to. Books, movies, yoga, meditation, complete solitude, soany different things can trigger such experiences it's insane. Mid video when you came to the part with "are memories fake". I teared up because i realised others have experienced that too. But i know for sure that so many of the things I can completely remember happening have not happened and it's just so trippy and thinking that everything could be fake is scary. It's a lot to think about. Also about the part about matrix, like there could be another real world or dimension and this is not real at all makes me think in a way that I'm fine with that but do I have to be in so much pain if it's not even real. If it doesn't matter why am I not living life to it's fullest. But even after realising that I don't know where to start. When you said that you don't wanna be trapped in a way when the entire life becomes predictable, i felt that because to a certain extent i already do feel like that so whatever is left is the reason I can keep on wanting to live. The uncertainty. So I totally get you there. We'll got lots more to say but I'll definitely be reading the book you suggested while being completed shook to my core and being scared. This video was really good. Hope someday I get to meet you and different people who think like this or actually have deep thoughts and are willing to share and have different conversations.

Damon this video is truthhhhhh, I just got out of a serious dark period of my life that was tremendously difficult to overcome because I had to unlearn so many things, I came out of it a completely different person with new language and perspective and insight and am grateful for all the lessons I've learned but omg we are having a huge awakening, people are facing their shadows and I truly believe its like a global great awakening.I've been coming across so many people around the same age in life who have recently realized these things as well :) haha

It's so interesting to hear how you've travelled through existentialism, to where you are now.... I'm acquainted with the dark night ... for me I have come to think that the 'point' may be in transformation. That we are meant to become the best that we can be and that in transforming - and really moving towards our true potential- we help to transform the outer world- and feel a deeper sense of fulfilment and connection to all things. (in a way existentialist philosophy might be read as symptomatic of the unease of civilisation increasingly fragmented by war, and 'progress'... the loss of faith less about what is actually evident in nature..but more a soul crisis...maybe we are meant to heal this...) Perhaps you know deep down that you are able to do much more. Your talents in art and philosophy, your wit and.....in search of meaning... maybe you need to push towards that which you know you have inside of you. Maybe making videos and travel isn't challenging you anymore ... I wonder if you'll go deeper with philosophy or your painting, writing, film.... You know your talents and depth! This is a message for you from above the universe ✨📩🔖🔱.

Thank you for putting down all the links to the material you have been checking out. I had a health scare back in 2020, but unfortunately for me it turned out to be a new reality I would have to face. Now that I’m on the road to recovery, I’ve been pondering a lot on ego death. I feel like I have been mourning who I was before my diagnosis and what this new change will be for me

So happy to hear your experience so openly! My experience was so similar in the way I wanted to write everything, remember everything because everything feels so profound and like an epiphany. I think the constant theme of 'I need to go back' meant your brain telling you to go back to your roots maybe? There's a child like innocence in all of us and somewhere growing up we lose it. I think in the midst of this quarter life crisis you are being reminded to go back yourself. You will always have yourself and your perspective and your way of seeing things and no one can take that from you. Proud of you and always inspired 🥰 Lots of love all the way from India ❤❤❤

I know for a nurse it's probably one call of many, but for the person receiving the call, it's honestly a traumatic experience...and the longest six weeks of my life to redo all the tests. All of that on my 30th birthday, when I was already feeling a change happening, and I was like yeah...it's time for a shift in priorities...but now what are those priorities....

Love hearing you talk about filosofy of life.There is one simple but beautiful quote that I love.I will try to translate it the best I can since it is originaly writen in Serbian lenguage. It gose something like this: -Do u think that living leads anywhere? -When I think about it,no! I don't bealieve so.But there is something wonderful in exsisting,and the beauty is in the fact that it leads nowhere." It is so scary to think like this but at same time it gives me peace.

Damon thank you so much for this video! I also did lsd for the first time recently and had a similar experience to you (I wrote a 7 page mess of a google doc trying to get to the bottom of my brain). So nice to hear someone else who processed that experience similarly! I compared my trip after to the story of how Descartes deduced all he could be sure of is “I think therefore I am”
