I love SWAC bands they always make everything a battle Lol and exciting. They just tend to raise the energy at events and Liven things up way to go MMH keep it up SWAC bands always go for the kill. MEAC bands are technical and pay attention to detail and Thats from observation I love the technicality and overall sound of those more contolled bands they entertain with clean smooth pieces. Seprate styles but both bands and all bands from the two conferences never disappoint me. MEAC/SWAC much love

to call us predictable because we ALWAYS sound good or ALWAYS look good is puzzling.Do people want us to surprise them and sound bad? I don't know but if people expect to see Cookman get out of the box just because, you'll be waiting on that one. Mr. Wells is all about order and detail. That won't ever change.we aren't perfect, but consistent? Hell YEAH. And i'd rather be consistently good than having people guess how we'll sound and look from year to year. That's just me though...

I was at this game sitting on ASU side, but I rep the wildcats and my cousin went to ASU so she brought the tickets which is why I set on they side. Anyways whenever they played something I didn't know what they was playing, only thing I noticed was them being loud, whereas BCU they were good and I knew every some. This was my first time seeing a SWAC band I can see why people call them loud.

BCU won this hands down! ASU may have had more power and were louder but that doesn't matter when your band sounds like crap.... BCU is loud and very well balanced! Keep up the good work wildcats!

Tried he say? LOL.....You heard that from beginning to end. Look up the clips from 2011 Meac/Swac challenge when BCU went against PV playing Big Ballin. Go back further and look the Rocket City BOTB of 2008. BCU played it again there in the stands. And it was completely over when BCU took the field against ASU, AAMU, and Miles the 3 in state bands. Based on the crowd's response it's no question about which conference's bands are the most entertaining in halftime shows. MEAC hands down.

Coookman's only priority are the half-time shows. This is where all of their work and effort goes toward. They play new music all the time. It all goes towards their drills/ballads/dance routines, which are all first-class quality. They don't get called for NFL, tv shows, and events to perform a 5th Quarter they are called upon to perform half-time shows. Everything else is second. The fact of their book being predictable isn't a reflection on the program, but the preference of the adminstration

I grew up with the SWAC. I have always respected ASU and everything they do ,but you can't ignore that sound BCU puts out.

ASU played "Pretty Brown Eyes" all the way back in 2008! They play it every once in a while.

I'm a SWAC guy; played Mellow in SU from 97-00. The only band we played against that really gave us a run for our money was BCU. They are very underestimated. Doubtless they blew out ASU. They sounded better, period; but not to my surprise. The only thing I'm surprised about is that ASU didn't make it more of a challenge. The lower brass over-powered the trumpets. Like Star Wars, you need balance in the force. ASU didn't have balance. SU had balance because every section was bringing POWER.

In my humble opinion both bands did well at presenting their different styles... but I believe I would give the 'W' to ASU. Although BCU was clean AF, they bored me to death, they didn't have any swag. BCU "PLEASE LET BIG BALLER GO"!!! You've been playing that for ump-teen years now.

Ummm you saymy comment stupid your comment is....apparently I see that asu tuba part is written to play all ranges of the horn but mostly the top octave notes like pretty much every swac tuba section but you missed my point completely , when ever asu went to the bottom notes they disapeared except for these two dudes in front and one in the back and they obviously were upperclassmen but cookman lows and highs are loud but asu tubas didnt display that and I know cause I sat right next to them.

BCU sounds good. They are a more exciting FAMU in my opinion. I love the program My patna played tuba from DAllas Lincoln, Darius Marshall. But im Swac all day. Its just more exciting to play in da swac.

Ok... So from reading all these comments and actually listening to this clip!!! HANDS DOWN IT GOES TO BCU... Very clean and consistent ... On the other hand ASU didn't sound too bad...they seem to have a contest on who can blow the loudest... I was in the band n middle and high school... I played the trumpet and was actually very good I might add... My middle school band director graduated from FAMU as n my high school band director graduated from Savanna State... However they both had two different styles in writing music... Hard music or easy music is no difference if the sound is not BALANCED!! And BCU achieved the balancing part sounds very very good... However whenever ASU played I wanted to hear them only because of how loud they were playing and not because it sounded CLEAN!! And I actually think the dancing in the stands is fun for not only the band but the crowd also... Who wants to sit there and watch a band in the stands just standing or sitting there playing #BORING... As in when I c a marching band getting down, I wanna get down too... Lol #IJS 14k Always and will b crowd pleasers... But ASU lil squad actually isn't bad at all... I like the way they throw their sequences and routines... Pretty neat!!

I do agree that ASU tubas are horrible. Jsu tubas are louder than them and they have the worst tubas in the swac.

ASU's music is arranged for the full range of the instrument and not only the bottom. For you to say someone CANT is far-fetched. I'm neutral on both bands.

I went to Bethune-Cookman and my cousin was in the Marching Wildcats. She wasn't good enough, but she was good enough to be in the band and they gave here like over half, as she went on and reached seniority, she was awarded almost full band scholarships, sometimes it depends on skill like a job, whoever is most skilled gets the most money. But my cousin case is not the case for everybody, so don't take that and run with it, just saying. I left it wasn't worth the money to me.

One thing I hate about MEAC bands is too much dancing in the stands while playing. SWAC bands are more concerned about the sound in the stands and the song being played than dance routines while playing. SWAC bands dance too in the stands, but not on every song. Sometimes we just won't you to hear our sound and feel the pain behind the 1001 watts. But I understand its just a difference of cultures.

bruh the bones killed that Jill Scott lol they sitting on TOP of the whole band. The solo was beasty, a bit sloppy at first but overall good.

cookman's sound quality, projection, MUSICIANSHIP, precision, and surround sound effect is simply undeniable..the other band was loud...and not even a good loud: the broken phrases, intonation issues, hit and miss screamers, hang-overs. Another example of how a band sacrifices sound "quantity" over the QUALITY..I simply don't understand the philosophy of a "swac" band..sure you're loud and entertaining, but when the sound coming out of your horns sound like ASU, then there's a problem.

i honestly dont think ASU wasn't that bad. Cookmans song selection was kinda squire to me, like it always those, i hate their arrangements, but they do got a crisps sound that i like and they sound polished. ASU sounded more groovy like you could just sit back and jam...idk if that was a male or female on the cymbal but that white person was getting it on them cymbals especially around 17:55 mark, i like ASU in this...#Famu marching 100 2001-2002, Trombone igtox, soopkoolas :)
