Hi friends! I'm Jennifer, a forty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 9 - 25. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.
Here I'll share vlogs about all these things, what I'm doing that works and what I've tried but didn't work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

Hi Jennifer. Nice seeing the kids in the kitchen with you. Peter is on his way to being a culinary chef!! Loved Maria's expression as she was adding the tomato products into the crock pot!! Hi Miss Jennifer... I love using "Better than" as well for making broth when I don't have homemade... the flavor is unbeatable. Just a little hopefully "helpful" info... no matter the amount of broth you need... I always just take about 1/4 cup of super hot tap water and put the "better than" into it to break it down... and once that is done, just at the remaining amount of water to complete the mix. It works so well and just make it so easy to get the bouillon to the right consistency without the clumps that come along with trying to do in a bigger batch of water.... hope this helps you out a little. Hugs, Penny Sue

Your kitchen feels so much like my own when I was raising my family…my husband is a grain and cattle farmer in central Indiana (45+years now!) and I cooked and baked so much like you do for my four children! I worked part time outside our home (I’m an RN) so that part is different but so much of our ethics and morals are so alike. ♥️. I now have 10 grandchildren, ages 13 to 3 and I still get to cook for them but it’s not quite the same as my own sweet family around our old oak table. Enjoy it Jennifer, as long as you can!! Ps….I have your first cookbook and just love it…🥰

I did get some ideas from hello fresh, one was to completely dry off my vegetables before roasting and my own idea that instead of putting oil on them in the pan that I put oil and salts or whatever spices on them in the bag, then roast them turning half way, first time I have roasted vegetables successfully. Hello fresh also taught me some pan frying skills for pork which I famously leatherized in the past. The portions were smallish for us but my husband ordered fit and fresh for 2 and we are 3. Some of the pep was definitely more than I wanted but a newer cook could learn a lot about methods from this food service. I also purchased a grill mates brown sugar barbecue spice for pork which was included in my kit.

I have a comment about cilantro that may help. I never liked it until my spouse (Latino) showed me this. It's used as a dressing for tacos, but I diced up an onion, s&p, and handful of fresh cilantro chopped finely and the Juice of limes. It all gets mixed together & the flavor is different. We Americans have different taste buds but cooks who are used to Latino flavors know how to mix the spices properly.
