Rest of the story: A couple weeks later the group played a similar joke on one of the girls who was actually in on the prank against me, and I got a genuine apology from her after she realized how bad I must have felt. None of the other girls ever apologized.

This happened to me in high school, labeled "secret admirer." However, when I saw the handwriting I knew exactly who it came from. I walked up to the group of girls who had been on lookout and gave the note back to the girl whose handwriting it matched. With a serious face, I told her I didn't feel the same way she did about me, but that I was flattered. Her face got red and she tried to convince me she didnt write it. Safe to say I ruined their fun.

THAT is not a prank. THAT is bullying. We gotta call it what it is. Pranks are funny- breaking people’s hearts and causing them humiliation are not pranks, and they’re not funny. If those girls who did that to you were my kids, lemme tell you- they’d never do it again.
@katdiangelo8214
@katdiangelo8214 10 ай бұрын
Actually it's technically *not* bullying. Acts of physical, emotional or verbal abuse must occur *repeatedly* by some type of peer (familial, work relations, romantic, education, online, ect) to be considered bullying.
@reneedittmer9625
@reneedittmer9625 10 ай бұрын
@@katdiangelo8214 but that is bullying, in a way anyway. That's like saying " Just because a boy touched you inappropriately doesn't mean they harassed you when they didn't do anything physical to you " Plus, it was repetitive. And it also did hurt the two girls emotionally which is a way of bullying, so therefore it is bullying. It just doesn't look as bad because it's not like they hurt or caused physical pain among the girls but it is just as a bad as that. Even if it isn't major it's still not right to do that.
@orion5324
@orion5324 10 ай бұрын
@@katdiangelo8214 bul·ly1 /ˈbo͝olē/ verb gerund or present participle: bullying “seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce (someone perceived as vulnerable).” It does NOT have to be repeated. Despite what schools have taught us, acts of hostility that aren’t reoccurring are still considered bullying still. Either way, whatever you want to call it, it’s still a very mean thing to do and should not even happen in the first place. Instances like this don’t need exact labels, they need change.

As a kid, my "best friend" got everyone to pretend they forgot about my birthday. So I had spent the entire school day with all of my friends completely ignoring me. I confronted her about it at the end of the school day, saying how hurt i was that my best friend forgot my birthday. That's a big deal when youre 10/11. She said it was a prank and not to act so desperate for attention. That night, I learned that she had also told them my birthday party (which we had planned together) was canceled, and not to come because I wouldn't even be home. I called one of my friends to ask why she wasn't there yet and she told me how the "best friend" told everyone the party was off. The only person who showed up was my cousin, because that girl didn't even know her. My mom took us to dinner and a movie to try cheering me up, but it was a really brutal night. On Monday morning, everyone acted like it had never happened. Needless to say, that friendship didn't last much longer.

As an adult at work my best friend kept telling everyone how many shopping days were left until her birthday. It seemed a bit presumptuous to me. So i did a mean thing and arranged to celebrate her birthday on the day after. Her actual birthday was uneventful. The next day she was genuinely surprised when we celebrate her birthday. But i felt like an Absolute shit when i found out she went home on her birthday and cried because she thought we all forgot. Ugh. We do stupid thongs sometimes. I apologized of course snd we were still friends. She was a little less pushy about her birthday after that. To me, small children make a big deal about their birthdays. By the time i was 21 i made my own cake and invited my roommates to share it. That's when they found out.

In my senior year of high school a group of boys decided we should do a secret santa as a class, they set it all up themselves and made the lists and kept it all confidential, it was actually pretty sweet of them. One girl in the popular group got a girl no one liked, so instead of just getting her something generic like a candle or jewerly, she gave her a styrofoam plate and silverwear from the cafeteria and wrapped it in a walmart bag. Everyone sat in silence and the girl and her friend group were the only ones barely laughing. The victim left the room and everyone was pissed but no one said anything directly to her face. The same boys who started the whole thing got together again and bought the bullied girl a necklace, but still, I'll never excuse that girls actions or forget how shitty that was to do.

Same thing happened to me, except my so-called "friend group" laughed at me when they found out I faced sexual harassment. It seemed extremely funny to them that a fat girl like me can face something like this. I was 12 years old so I guess I can understand if they didn't exactly understand how it felt. The one who started joking about it apologised to me 3 years later when she started telling me one morning about a man following her. I just said "guess now you know how it feels. It was not funny." Didn't get any apology from the rest. I doubt they even remember this happened. Now I lost contact with most of them, and sometimes they try to reconnect but I mostly ignore them.

I had something similar happen to me in 4th grade, but he was in on it, too. They got together and had him ask me out as a joke. Of course, I said yes because, as they all knew, I had a crush on him. He then laughed and said, "Who would ever want to date you/someone like you?" I then ran home crying and didn't go to school the next day. Like 20 years later, one of the girls who was in on it and I had considered my best friend at the time messaged me telling me she was sorry. She was pregnant and couldn't imagine someone doing something like that to her kid. She said they all felt bad after, and she just wanted to apologize. I told her it was fine because I didn't remember what she was talking about. Turns out I had blocked the whole thing out. But it still screwed me up for life. I have always believed that if anyone asked me out, it was a joke, and there was no way anyone would ever like someone like me. Too bad once I remembered two weeks later, she had already blocked me. But at least I know why I feel this way now. Too bad it screwed up the rest of my life.

When I was 7, one of my classmates invited me over to his fathers restaurant for his birthday. He was a really shy kid and didn’t talk much, so I never really got to know him. But knowing it probably took him a lot of courage to ask me, I accepted the invitation and wished him a happy early birthday. I was pretty excited to attend his birthday party because a lot of kids at my school enjoyed going to his fathers restaurant, and I’d never been there before. I kinda wanted to go there to see what was so great about it, and now that this kid invited me there for his birthday party, I prepared for it for an entire week and even got him an expensive present to express my gratitude. The day of the party came and I carried his gift with the biggest smile on my face. But when I walked in trying to find him, I saw him crying under a table. His brother was bothering him. This kid didn’t have a good relationship with his brother from what I’ve heard, but I didn’t expect him to be this mean. He kept laughing with his friends and even continued to make fun of him. I got upset seeing this but I didn’t do anything to stop it because I was only 7 and had no idea what to do. Though I do regret not saying anything because his brother was CRUEL. This guy carried his screaming, sobbing brother up to one of the restaurants mascots and brought him over to its mouth. He kept wailing and begging him to stop but he didn’t. That kid got bit by the mascot and died that day. Ever since then, I refused to go to that restaurant ever again. The incident was called the bite of 83. I’ll never forget the day it happened.

There was a group of the most popular guys asking every single unpopular girl out in my grade and when they said yes the boys would laugh and say they were kidding, they ended up asking my friend group (all lesbian and bi who preferred women) and every single one of us turned them down and they stopped after the 8 girls rejected them in a row in front of their friends They were assholes so even if we did like guys we would've said no

I remember boys in middle school doing that. Best I could guess it was an insensitive defensive mechanism against rejection (cuz then they could laugh it off like they didn't mean it if a girl turned them down). Or maybe it was a poor attempt at humor? Either way, it made me second guess people's intentions for quite a while lol. I'm probably being overly optimistic, but hopefully you and your friends made them think about their actions and become better humans.

Oh god this happened to me too but the worst part was that I actually had a small crush on the guy :(. It was gut wrenching when I found out he never actually sent the flower to me. The girls started laughing at me and I took the flower later on and ripped it to shreds, stuffed it into a plastic water bottle and threw it into my locker and forgot about it. End of the year came around and to my surprise the stem of the flower had started growing inside of the bottle. I thought there might be some kind of deep meaning I should have gotten from that but I was too stupid to come up with a meaning 💀

A group of girls did this to her.. handed her the note and said it was from the boy. To meet him later by the buses (i believe). She was crushed. I've never seen her cry in anger, shame and embarrassment like that before. I miss her. Her mother didnt like me, but we stayed friends for a long time. Hiding our friendship. Havent spoken to her in over a decade. I really hope she is doing great in life.

Middle school story time: Tldr: Grew up with a girl, we liked the same guy, she lied about him being single, she harassed me for 2 months to ask him out, I did, she flaunted the relationship, I called her disgusting for telling me he liked me when he wasn't single, she got her ass verbally handed to her by her gma who had custody, she asked why I told her, I said if I thought gma would react like that I wouldn't have, stopped giving a shit about her existence Full story: Neighborhood friend told me a guy I had a crush on for years was interested in me, had me meet him and her, and then she flaunted the fact that she was dating him for a year while he called me disgusting for trying to "betray" my friend like that. Didn't know they were dating as she said she was single every time I asked if she found herself a boyfriend and wouldn't have liked him for so long had I known. I explained I didn't know they were dating as she never said it, told her she was disgusting for telling me he liked me, and to never talk to me again as I already explained to her my feelings for someone switch off if they're in a relationship that I know about. To this day, 12 years later, I still don't give a flying field about her, nor do I like that guy. She claimed, "It's just a prank" after when her grandma asked, very aggressively, why we weren't friends anymore the next day since she went to the gym so often because I went every day. Told gma that she decided telling me this guy I liked since grade 4 liked me at grade 8 liked me and harassed me to ask him out turned out to be her bf and I decided no longer to acknowledge her existence. I'd say hi politely, but that's the only word I'd say to her. Gma proceeded to give her a verbal lashing for "being a petty, disgusting, lying, manipulative bitch like your mom. I raised you to be better than that. This is partly why I have custody instead of your mom." Etc. (heard it from outside the house, the yelling was that loud) Girl came out asking why I told her gma what happened, I only said "Told her the truth. Sorry that she flipped like that. Wouldn't have told her if I knew. Nobody deserves to be treated like that." And went home (Edit to fix grammar)

I did this, not as a prank but I was crushing on this girl and wrote her a letter (I was too young to know I had a crush on her, we were both female) I gave it to her, but panicked and told her it was from someone else, a boy. Cue "they" started exchanging letters, and she was catching feelings so I had to break it out to her that it was me, obviously she got mad and thought I was playing with her feelings, told her mom and everything, I just accepted the verbal assault. I had no idea what I was feeling, I just wrote her a letter about how I thought she was really cute and nice and it scalated.

One day I was in ceramics class with my friend group. (They had always been toxic to each other but especially to me and my friend (I’ll call her Ella but it isn’t her real name) Everyone except me and Ella said they were going to the bathroom and that we couldn’t come. When the came back they were giggling and whispering to each other. After class I went to my locker and Ella went to hers right next to mine. There was a note in it from her boyfriend at the time who was in the grade below us, it was really sweet and she was so happy, but the handwriting looked too neat to be his and I was sure it was one of our “friends” putting the note in her locker, but Ella just said I was acting jealous. For the next week she kept getting these love notes in her locker and for some reason, she just didn’t bring it up to her boyfriend when she saw him after school. I was 99% sure the notes weren’t written by him and were just written by the girls in our friend group but I kept my mouth shut. One day, I got a note from “Ella’s boyfriend” saying he wanted to be with me instead and he didn’t love Ella anymore. I didn’t believe the note so I hid it in my locker because I didn’t want Ella to get upset if she saw it, even though her boyfriend didn’t write it. Eventually she found the note and got so mad at me, she told me that I was the reason her boyfriend stopped writing the romantic notes recently and that I would never be able to pull her boyfriend, I tried to explain to her again that her boyfriend didn’t write me the note and that our “friends” did but she went up to her boyfriend and broke up with him. He told her he had gotten a note from her saying she hated him so he was glad to end the relationship. They didn’t even talk it out. Ella called him a cheater and said he could have me because she never wanted to see my again. Obviously he was confused because he didn’t write the notes. I wanted to tell him what happened but he was mad at me for writing him a love note that I didn’t write, I tried to explain I didn’t write him any love note but he just left and told me not to talk to him. Ella and her boyfriend had been in this relationship for 6 months and I didn’t think it was going to work anyway but what our friends did was cruel, and I was sure they did it because they were laughing their asses off when we came back from his class. A few weeks later and one of the girls from our friend group starting dating Ella’s ex-boyfriend. After they broke up, another girl from our friend group admitted that they had written all the notes so that one of them who liked Ella’s boyfriend could get a chance, and that they wanted to split me and Ella up for whatever reason.

they sound...awful oh my god and just a lot to unpack. due to selfish reasonings they decided to hurt three people with their actions and everyone in on it just thought that it was an okay thing to do?? I can't understand their actions but the boyfriend thing makes sense because people really do crazy things when they like someone elses partner (if they lack self respect, no offense) but making you and your friend distance from eachother? I don't get the motive there but maybe they just loved watching drama unfold and what better way to end a relationship if you get the impression your bf and friend are seeing eachother in some way. I'm really sorry that happened though. :(

Got a similar story: I was the new kid in 4th grade and ate lunch alone (until my elementary school bff joined our class later in the year) One day at lunch, a group of my classmates (all girls) came up to me giggling and passed me a note and saying "Connor asked us to give this to you" It was an 'I like you' note. I didn't believe these girls because I knew they were laughing at someone and they weren't my friends so why would I trust them. I looked over at Connor though to see if he was involved in the 'prank'. He was sitting way down the bench and the poor kid looked embarrassed AF I didn't say anything to them, grabbed his note, and returned it to him. Quietly, he told me the note was meant for Sarah (one of the girls who was laughing and the one who gave it to me and told me it was for me) and that he had just given it to her. I told him "that's okay, I didn't believe them. I'm sorry they did that" and went back to eating my lunch. Don't think Connor ever did anything similar again....plus I started making fun of those girls whenever they were next to me and they got extremely mad every time lol

There was another girl who had always been mean to me and Sophie became friends with her and she was going to play with us. I thought why not we might become friends too. We were playing family and they said that they were writing a shopping list for me to go out and get because I was playing the mum and they were the kids but they spent the whole time with the paper just whispering and giggling. They wouldn't let me see it and I say fit almost the entirety of break waiting. Then they told me to stay and wanted off somewhere and after they came back my guy bsf came out and was shook and asking me if I really said that and I was so confused. Eventually he said that he knew I didn't write it and basically they had written that I wanted to have s3x with him and put it in his bag. I was like 6/7. I didn't play with them the next day because who would and so I sat with my guy bsf instead and they started throwing things at us. I hate my life it got so much worse after

my experience wasn’t really a prank, just downright terrible😭 it was 8th grade and at that time I started recognize that I’m not really straight, and I found that out because I had a HUGE crush on this girl in the same grade as me. she was pretty popular (and kind of a bitch but she was really pretty so I ignored it 💀) it was entirely surface level, I definitely wasn’t gonna try to ask her out or anything. I didn’t want anything serious, it was just a kiddy crush that I preferred not dealing with. but also because at the time a rumor was floating around that I was a lesbian, and I got picked on a lot considering pretty much everybody in my school was homophobic. in one of my classes I was sitting next to 2 girls, even though I really didn’t like them I was still nice to them and overtime I was like “hey…. this isn’t so bad.” that changed quickly when they kept asking me if I had a crush on anyone. it got so bad to the point where they would corner me and just constantly demand that I tell them. ofc I wasn’t gonna tell them the truth, I’d prolly get bullied all over again, so I panicked and my brain went “okay how do I make this believable??” the first thing I thought of was one of my childhood friends that kinda drifted apart, therefore I told them that it was him. they got SUPER excited and were like “girly we gotta set u up!!! u guys r gonna be so cuuuute” (direct quote 💀💀💀) and this is when I lowkey start shitting myself because they were offering to tell him FOR me. I gave them the same reasons why I didn’t wanna actually start a relationship or anything. AND THE NEXT DAY THEY TOLD HIM THEY FUCKING TOLD HIM 😭😭 IT WAS THE FIRST TIME WE EVEN INTERACTED IN YEARS. he was really sweet about it though, he said that he’s definitely interested but he wanted to know me more in order to do that. ofc, me being mortified, I never spoke to him again 🥳 so thank you delaney and prisha!! you fuckjng cunts!! I’ve seen the guy around a couple of times and he’s still really sweet, he was a douchebag freshman year but he found a girl that rlly changed him and since then he’s been pretty dope. damn. In my experience, bullying is almost never the way it's portrayed in media. Sure, some bullied can be undeniably abusive, but it's almost always way more insidious than stealing lunch money and shoving people into lockers. It's just the constant, pervasive reminder that you're lesser and you're not welcome. Pointed jokes and leading questions. Stuff that could be perceived as just innocent teasing. That's why the anti-bullying seminars never do shit. Because they assume bullying is loud and obvious when it's usually not. Middle schoolers are way better at playing the long game than you'd assume.

Oh my, this was on me. In year 5, my friends left me out a lot, they still did in year 6, they decided to pull this prank on me were they pretended they couldn’t see me. You might be like oh it’s just a simple prank, but to 10 year old me it wasn’t. They had already destroyed me mentally by leaving me out and one of my ‘friends’ bullying me in year 4. I started crying and then they came over and started liking me. I’ve just left that school, I will leave the memories of those girls but not the teachers screw you A and F

The same thing happened to me in 6th grade there were various notes going on and off for me ones that ended up in his saying from me and Bose versa I had no idea who was doing it and I was just hoping it would stop finally I go mad and kept one instead of throwing them away so I can tell the teacher but the next few days they stopped and I found out who it was but the thing is that the ones I kept were still in my bag the ones addressed from me and my mum found it and she said I found this in your bag and I took it looked at it and got mad cuz I forgot they were in there and it had been weeks and I started ripping it up and then a whole argument went on with my mum and it ended with her saying she can never trust me again cuz I lied by saying I don’t know what that is cuz I didn’t want to get into it cuz if she did she would have gone to the principal about it and made matters worst It’s been a few years now but it still hurts what she said and she brings it up now and then saying I still can’t trust you

I’ve had multiple guys ask me out as a “joke” and honestly I hated all of them plus I’m fairly certain they were just trying to start drama because I don’t talk to any of them and they’re known for drama

this reminds me of 8th grade. i was (and still am) really shy and awkward. well, there was this dude who tried playing me and all of his friends egged him on. i started developing feelings for him until i was told he was just trying to play me. not only that, but he had a gf. one day her and her friend came up to me and asked to meet up to talk later. i didn't so they approached me and asked why. i said bc i was intimidated by her (she was the complete opposite of me) and they started laughing. she loudly said "ur scared of me!?" and a group of guys behind her asked who, and they pointed at me. then they all laughed. her friend said "she looks like she's about to cry, i'm out" and left. when i was in 10th grade, i contacted a friend of mine i had from 3rd to 8th grade. we caught up and i mentioned those people. she said that she knows them and they're really sweet. then she said i was probably just nervous. then she told me to stop talking to her bc we weren't friends anymore. i just laughed and blocked her. i didn't care all too much bc she was manipulative, a liar, and treated me like a baby, but jeez...people are cruel

When I was in the sixth grade I went to a small middle school of maybe 200 kids across three grades. Everyone knew each other, but me and my brother were the new kids. I found this group of girls that I was sort of friends with, I would hang out with them and eat lunch with them, but we weren’t particularly close. For some reason, that same group of girls thought it would be hilarious if they pretended they didn’t hear or see me. I would say hi and they would go “oh did you hear that? What was that annoying noise just now?” Or they would just not even acknowledge it. This went on for two weeks until I burst out crying when my Theatre teacher asked me if I was ok. It was honestly a really traumatic experience, and now, when people don’t respond to something I say, even if they simply didn’t hear me, it fills me with really bad anxiety.

This isn’t my story, but my best friends. Characters: Mi (best friend), Iz (best friends boyfriend), and Em (my best friends other best friend) Setting: text message Basically my best friend had a sleepover with Em, Iz, and other people. Iz had a crush on Mi and Mi liked Iz so they started dating. Everything was fine until Mi was texting Iz, and Iz said “bro can you stop texting me for once”. And mi said “what, why?”. Iz responded with “I’m texting my girlfriend, (em).” Of course, mi was confused and upset. She texted me, and later Iz said “I’m joking chill out”. Yep.

A "prank" that happened to me was after lunch I found my back pack drenched in water. I went to the office not knowing what to do, I also had my older sisters book she let me borrow, I took that out emotionally before I went. The office lady didn't know what to do and told me to just leave it there to dry... Sooner or later I went back to the office to get stuff for my next period, one of the girls who did it asked what happened, I told her that all my important stuff was drenched (I had 3 days worth of homework, my sisters book, my notes, and chrome book), I thought she felt sorry it happened, she was just wondering what she and her friends got. I was the target everyone wanted to hit for "jokes," I grew up in that school, they all knew I wouldn't go to anyone to "snitch," this wasn't serious, but a few years later after I graduated middle school, reflecting back to it I realized how horrible my "friends" were.

Something similar happened to me in 5th grade. I was playing in the park with one of the popular boys' friends. We were talking about crushes so I asked who the popular boy crush was and he said it was me. I also like him so of course I got curious. A couple days later two of my friends came up to me and told me he liked me. This was the second time I heard this so I got excited thinking that someone really liked me and I liked him back. So I told some of my friends about this, one of my friends in particular told me that they were probably lying. I forgot to say these kids have a long history of lying. Now that I can look back at that day I realize that he probably wanted to get my hopes up since I was the quiet kid and everyone liked him. Also looking at it he was really mean to others, yet I never really asked him.

I had this happen and they put the note at my mailbox but they didn’t write who it was from(aka who liked me). But I could tell based on the 3 different hand writings and the fact that there was only one group of girls who knew my house that it was them. The sad thing is, the one girl happened to my close friend and she never confessed it, and I knew it had to be her. There was no real good friends who it could have been who know where I live

Girls in my class would try to do this to me. One in particular was bad about pulling “pranks” like this. She was my best friend too which made it always hurt so much worse. The cruelest one she pulled on me was when I went over to her house. It had just snowed and she had already told me how reluctant her mom had been to let me come over. When I got there, she came outside to greet me. She told me I wasn’t allowed to go inside, that her mom had told her that if I was going to come over we would have to play outside in the snow. I was like “oh okay that’s fine” at first, because it really was fine at first. After about an hour and a half of 30° weather and a coat that wasn’t thick enough, I was starting to feel sick as hell. I had been asking for the last 30 minutes if we could go inside, just for a second to thaw out. She would just look at me with pity and say “I’m sorry, but we can’t.” Keep in mind, she had a much thicker coat than I did, a scarf, gloves, and a hat. I literally only had a think coat. Eventually she started laughing and said “HAH!!! Gotcha!!! We can go inside whenever. Mom doesn’t care.” Along with her “I’m adopted.” Pranks. Or the “My mom died in a car crash… I have to leave school early…” or the other shitty things she’d say. I’d start our skeptical, be all like “stop pulling these pranks” and she’d hit me with the “I’m being serious! Why don’t you care? Why are you being so mean?” And I’m gullible and empathetic as hell so it didn’t take much to get me literally mourning for the death of her mom when her mom was literally fine. 💀

Something similar happened to me as a grown-ass adult. My best friend, who I later realized was toxic as hell, sent me a text message because she knew I was looking forward to receiving a text back from the guy that I was into. Then she stood outside the window where my work station was to see me get excited/ disappointed.
