From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.

The way Reneé seems SO perfect for the role of Regina. I thought no one could carry that role since I saw Rachel play Regina in the 2000s movie. But I feel like Reneé has that strength and energy to play the role. My second favorite is Avantika with the role of Karen, I have been paying attention to her facial expressions and attitude and she does it very well! For now Reneé and Avantika are the ones I like the most for the roles.

I wanted a movie of the musical like what they did for Hamilton. It was an incredible movie and musical and I’m looking forward to this movie, but it seems like another remake that doesn’t compare with the original. I’d also like a reunion with the original cast and I’m glad we got that as a set of commercials.

They cast a South Asian actress and decided to give her a South Asian last name. They did the same for Janis’s last name, to reflect Auliʻi Cravalho’s native Hawaiian heritage I don’t mind at all, having a character’s last name be different is one of the tiniest changes they could have made

I think part of us think most are miscast due to in the original most of the actors were conventionally atttactive. I feel Cady has not the allure Lindsay had, and the new aaron Samuels is not good looking enough.

He was 100% totally miscast as Aaron Samuels. He could play Eric or Dylan if they made a movie about Columbine. He has strong nerd vibes like he could be Brian in a Breakfast Club remake.

You see, it's so funny seeing people use the "Karen is a dumb blonde" argument to try and drag down Avantika as Karen because Karen's defining characteristic as a character has been and continues to be a "dumb girl" and that is it. Not once in the original '04 movie or any of the versions of the musical production did they ever attach the requirement of being blonde OR white to Karen's character. If you continue to be so persistent in saying that Karen is supposed to be a dumb white blonde girl then that is on you for being a believer of that stereotype/character archetype --- and mind you, we are in 2024. It's not our fault nor is it Avanika's, that you can't grow out of your outdated beliefs and you stay so disconnected from current times.

Literally not once in the OG movie was Karen’s hair color mentioned. The point is that she’s dumb. Not blonde. Avantika has been playing the role magnificently.
