From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. For those of you who don’t know, this is not a remake of the original movie. Rather, it is an adaptation of the broadway musical based on the original 2004 movie, in a similar vain to the Matilda The Musical movie or the new The Color Purple.

I would be so confused if I didn't know. This is terrible marketing. It's literally only for people who already know about it, rather than doing what a trailer is supposed to do: inform the uninformed. There is nothing in the trailer, nor the description, to indicate that this is a musical. It mentions "a new twist" in both places and then never shows or explains what the twist is.

@@Fanible It’s embarassing and such an odd choice really, I can’t wrap my head around it??? The musical is incredible and I have no idea what they were thinking - now it only looks like an extremely unecessary remake. Remaking something so beloved and iconic is already risky from the getgo, so they really needed to show what is new about this version and why it exists, something they very much didn’t do 😭😭 (which is so sad because the songs are bangers!!!)

And then covid struck, and they were waiting and waiting to get the Broadway one back on. But then they decided to make a movie musical version instead and cease the Broadway one.

Mean Girls is iconic! One of my all-time favorites! I love that the principal and Tina Fey are both back in this one, too. But I'm not big on musicals. And this is really just going to be a repeat with added music in it. Nothing will ever surpass the 2004 version.

Before anyone went nuts, this is a musical adaptation of the Broadway show. Not a remake of the original movie, they aren't trying to beat the original movie when they're doing a different approach similar to last year's Matilda and the new Color Purple movie. Heck even Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for this movie as she was also heavily involved in the Broadway show

is it funny? whoa, I really have no sense of humor. I didn't laugh once. I mean, I could see the scenes that were supposed to. be a comedy, but... it's just how I am, I don't laugh, I don't find comedies funny, I just watched it for it's plot but I still really like the original. this... well, I think it's gonna be a big, fat 0/10, based on the fact I thought it's gonna be a parody, and apparently ITS A MUSICAL, which honestly... I don't know which is worse. it's probably gonna be both. I will definitely not rush to the theater. I mean, I never do, but I won't even wait for it to be available to download online somewhere.
