Belize is one of the worst countries that I have played in hoi4 millennium dawn. The only reason I even got anywhere with this loser country is because I got lucky and found the golden liquid at the start of the game. Because of this central america gets to suffer, hahahahaha!!!!!

Very oversimplified reason for why Belize exists: Great Britain and their funny empire. Around 1798, Britain came on top in a battle against Spain for "British Honduras" to be created. It just kinda stayed like that as part of a new crown colony until 1981 when they declared independence. Honduras had already bailed out, so Belize got that small strip of land along Mexico. They're the ONLY Central American mainland country that is a commonwealth realm. Also, yeah the Europeans violated the Mayans when they got this land.

Costa Rica doenst have divisions because of their constitution. FYI. They are conditionally not allowed to have a standing army due to coups, and can only have conscripted militias when a defensive war occurs.

It exists because it was a British colony. It used to be called “British Honduras”. Its official language is English, and is considered to be a Caribbean country. Very unique to all other Central American countries. My mom’s family is from there.

@@Meanbean_official Belize has a strong independence streak and wants to do its own thing rather than be absorbed by Guatamala. They're pretty different culturally due to the English colonization so if they joined Guatamala they would live in a Spanish majority country that could easily just ignore them
