PS - I also love that you incorporated a ch2 turning chain into your pattern that doesn't count as a stitch. If a pattern doesn't instruct it, I usually do it anyway because someone once said it helps to keep the sides more even and neat. Love your work! ❤️

Amy, Thank you so much. I have been struggling for 10 days frogging(25 rows) 8 times each trying to get this right, ugh. All I had to do you search it on KZfaq who knew. My wip now looks like yours and I could not be more ecstatic. My in-laws are gonna love their Christmas presents. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Just discovered your pattern and knew I had to make it. I also struggled with the “last skipped stitch” portion as I’d never used a cross stitch like that before. But you explain it so well in the video so thanks for filming this. I see a lot of these in my future!!!

Thank you so much for this pattern and for this video! I didn't realize I did an entire blanket using this pattern but didn't go into the 'toe' spaces themselves (yeah, I dug my hook into the actual chain spaces at the top - oops!) and I approached the cross stitches from the back by accident instead of the front - but I did it consistently, so I think it still looks okay... I am making these scarves for Christmas for all of the volunteers and staff at the animals shelter we adopted our dog from as a 'thank you' - they work so hard to help the animals and are paid minimum wage (if they are paid at all), so I want them to know their selfless hard work is appreciated. Thank you! Happy Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas-Hanukkah-New Years!

Is the stitch multiple 20+2 if wanting to make bigger than the scarf?
@craftymath-chick
@craftymath-chick Жыл бұрын
Yes, 20+2 is mentioned as the multiple on her 'Paw Prints Over the Rainbow Bridge' Afghan. That's really the only way to get all the paw prints in the different positions. ;)

Thank you for the video, it explains the pattern so well. I am 60 years old. have been crocheting since age 9. Yours the the very first printed pattern I could read and understand clearly. Abbreviations are intimidating for me. I printed your pattern and followed your video. I felt you were explaining my 9yo self how to crochet. I used #5 bulky yarn. It made the paws more defined and visible. And obviously it made a wider, longer scarf. I made scarves for my coworkers with pets. Rectangle beanies for their daughters, staggering the paw print. The rectangle corners form into cat ears when worn. They were so thankful for their personalized, handmade gift. Thank you so much for your pattern ❤

Just started making this today for my two daughters that love their fur babies. I wanted to make these last year, but didn't know how to read a pattern, I do now and have been working with the written pattern. Came across the video as I was searching how others made theirs. Thank you for the pattern and video.

Omg... Thank you so much!👍😃 I haven't watched the video YET but I am ecstatic to find your written pattern on your blog... not to mention the Meandering Paw Prints Chevron pattern, too (way cool!👍). I've just spent hours trying to modify a different YT vid pattern that had 2 paw print repeats wheras I wanted a 3-2-3 sequence to have some offset instead of paw prints lined up single file with no offset. I had followed the original instructions to complete the first 2 paws but wasn't happy with having a ch3 to create the open space for the large paw pad. The open space created just wasn't big enough using a ch3 in my opinion. I realize it's all personal preference but I thought it needed at LEAST a ch4 space so back to once again re-calc stitches and spaces in the pattern to fit into a ch50 foundation. I decided to search again for a paw print "scarf" because I had been working from my modified blanket pattern and made the width smaller. I was so happy when I read your pattern instructions were a ch4 for the paw pad spacing! Yes! 👍😁 And.... I love the way your paw prints meander! ❤️❤️❤️ With that said, I'm going to get started on a new scarf using your pattern. Again, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful paw prints pattern. Have a beautiful day!😊

After watching your excellent video about 10 times and reading the instructions i finally got the hang of it. The cross stitch was no problem at all. For some reason I can’t count stitches correctly. I am making my first one with off white yarn. I am a better knitter so i think i will try to make it in knit. I will be making several for Christmas gifts. We are all animal lovers.

Sorry, it's me again with a question. I just started following your written and video pattern. I understand it's based on 20 stitches per row (not counting the turning chain) but you note the stitch count ONLY in rows that have dc20. Row 2 actually has 22 stitches because there are 2 extra stitches that's included in the ch4 and there may be some extra stitches in some of the other rows where chain spaces are created but I haven't gotten that far yet. I've crocheted granny squares for years and I don't mean to sound ignorant but I'm new to fancy patterns (aka anything that isn't a granny square - LOL) and reading fancy patterns so I was wondering... Is there a reason you don't indicate the Stitch count in your written pattern for the rows that have more than 20 stitches? Thanks!

The paw print can be done over 10 sts. But this particular pattern is over 20 sts. If you are wanting to add additional meandering paw print trails to the width you might look at the pattern for the "over the rainbow". It is only in a written pattern, no video.

Hi Amy! I'm trying to follow your pattern for the rainbow afghan but I'm struggling to make sense of Row 2. It says "Dc 4, sk 2 sts, DC 18, *Ch 4, sk 2 sts**, DC 18. Repeat from * across ending at **. DC in last 14". Does this mean that I chain 4, skip 2, and repeat until the last 14 stitches? Or should I chain 4, skip 2, DC 18 and repeat until the last 14?

Hi Lisa, you will repeat until the last 14. The final repeat stops at the **, then you stitch into the last 14 sts.

@amybstitched 6 жыл бұрын
Sonia Cleroux you can make the scarf as wide as you like following a multiple of 20+2 calculation. Or you can use the written pattern for the blanket amysastitchatatime.blogspot.com/2017/06/meandering-paw-prints-over-rainbow.html?m=1

I like your video. Do you have a bear claw pattern for the scarf as well? If so do you have a video or written pattern. Where can I find it?
@amybstitched

Joey xoxox thank!! I do not have a bear claw pattern. But I think it may just be a matter of tweaking the placement of stitches and maybe changing the shape up a bit. I will have to think about this idea. Thanks!!

Is there a way to alter this pattern? My best friend has requested some leg warmers and is a huge animal lover and rights activist. I'd love to put some little paw prints on her leg warmers.

Vanessa Nowlin I have quite a few different patterns using my paw print design. My can cozy is worked in the round and could easily be converted by eliminating the bottom, and using larger hook and yarn. amysastitchatatime.blogspot.com/2017/09/meandering-paw-print-cup-cozy-free.html?m=0

Angela Shea I have written patterns for 3 different paw print blankets. The scarf is the only video tutorial I have. You can find the written patterns on my blog. The link for the written scarf pattern is in the description for this video and you can navigate from there.

Can I use a size 3 yarn
@amybstitched
@amybstitched 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can use any size yarn you prefer. Your scarf will just be smaller scale as you will also want to size down the hook as well.

Or is the scraf the right size for kids
@amybstitched
@amybstitched 6 жыл бұрын
I make the same scarf for kiddos just make it shorter. Some prefer to make it more narrow, but I think the general consesus is that it works well.

This video gets you started on the pattern and was developed because some were having trouble with stitch placement. I do not crochet the entire scarf, but teach you the skills in this video to learn to read the pattern for yourself.

Can you make the srcaf smaller
@amybstitched
@amybstitched 6 жыл бұрын
michelle phillips sure you can!!! The easiest way would be to use a thinner yarn and smaller hook. That would make it more narrow without having to change the pattern. And then it you want it shorter you could just crochet paw prints until it is as long as you want it then finish off.
@amybstitched
@amybstitched 6 жыл бұрын
michelle phillips I am travelling rightnow...sitting in the airport and got to thinking about how to make a more narrow yarn and I am working up a solution. If you give me a few days or so I will have something ready. Follow me at Amy B Stitched on Facebook or on my blog. I will not do a new video since it will be basically this pattern with a different stitch count, but it should be easy enough to follow along.
