Paid $20 for this. Saved my families life. Started doing the 4 beeps and a pause one night about 5 am. Consulted the manual and called 911 and they sent the local FD. Local FD found 89ppm in my house and they called the gas company. Come to find out, my old furnace was slowly leaking at 2500 ppm into my house. Aside from a mild headache, I would have never known I had a leak.

Most alarms have different beep patterns but 99% of the time a carbon monoxide alarm is 4 beeps and a smoke alarm is 3

This is the most helpful video. I've been scared at 4:00am if I need to call the poison services and it turns out it was just because of low battery. The other 15 minutes of videos were not helpful towards finding if I am being poisoned to death or just need new batteries.

I'm glad I'm not the first person who thought the music in the beginning was the actual alarm. That might get people's attention. They'd hear the music and probably would go investigate only to realize what was actually making the noise.

Using a stopwatch I was able to time the chirps and for anyone wondering one chirp a minute means you need to just simply change your battery. Which is easily changeable 😉.

there may be a battery inside the machine which is needed in case of power loss. and needs replacement after 6 months or so. but the chirp sound may also be due to malfunctioning of a machine which is too old and needs a replacement.

Mine talked to me. It said "Battery Low." I didn't know what it was at first. I turned around real fast I thought it was that google voice on the phone at first . Creeped me out I didn't know the carbon monoxide detector talked. it was already installed when I moved in. Changed the batteries and it's working fine.

I slept for about an hour, then suddenly you'll hear a noise and your not aware where it came from, and when you do you are freaking out bcoz its a monoxide alarm 😑😑😑 man! Its scare a hell out of me just to find out that its low in batteries!! By the way its only 4:30 am here in Philippines and i just had my sleep, waking up and scrolling on youtube and google just to know whats happening. What a night!

Yeah we had the same deal. Son comes upstairs at 3:30 am , “Mom there’s an alarm or something downstairs. I knew what it was got scared & called 911. They said get out and wait for the fire department. I panic and tell my son to hurry. We live in this little town but here come the fire truck lights a blazing. Five fire fighters get out in full gear & go downstairs only to tell us we needed to change the battery. Oops. Thank you to a dedicated volunteer fire department at 3:30 am. They take their jobs seriously and we are fortunate to have them. Sorry guys we should have checked the internet!

I needed this 😅 my carbon monoxide detector started peeping at 1am so i took out the batteries but, I'm going to be more paranoid and anxious at 1 am 😂 so i needed to know if it was just my batteries or if I was going to die so thank you for this ❤️ I can go back to sleep calm now 😌

Chirping could cause use of pressurised container in the room. Opening windows may be the least expected solution if you are sure you do not have a gas leak. Maybe you don't even have a gas.

I have a question, I came here not knowing what but there was a sound coming from my ceiling in my room I am a teen but this sound was just auditable in my room and I have no toys or smoke alarms in my room. We had a First Alert CO detector and the battery was low but we went ahead and replaced the unit because it was 14 years old

If it is beep sound, then it is cause of concern. But if it is chirp, it is probably old battery that needs to be changed.

It blinks meaning it's operating properly and a solid red/green led means it has A/C power

3 (fast) chirps actually indicate end of life on a 1999-2006 unit while 5 (slow) chirps indicate end of life and 3 (slow) chirps indicating malfunction on a 2007-present unit

Thank you for this, i am currently house sitting and 1 alarm did this, i realized it was indicating it wasnt working so unplugged it. Found this video at 1:47 am because my alarm started doing a chirp every minute. We took the battery out to test it and it was reading an “okay” so we put it back in and the beeping has stopped. I’m not sleeping tonight even if it is just a low battery, too afraid now lol

Ì got some strange beeps that I can't find an answer to. Ì got a beep then 2 seconds later I get 4 rapid beeps then 4 seconds pause then 4 rapid beeps, then a one hour pause and repeats again with one beep, two seconds then 4 beeps, etc.. What does this mean? Malfunction? Ì have another detector on the main level and it's not reacting as the one in the basement is.

Mine beeps once every 20 minutes or so. I put fresh E91 Energizer AA batteries as required for my model, but it annoys the crap out of my wife for fear of waking our special needs child. Mine was issued 2013 Apr 15. CO400 Model. Should I replace it and purchase a new one? (Also of note: We just had a new furnace put in a little over a week ago )

It was a combo of the CO2 detector and smoke detector. Both, for some odd reason, beeped at precisely the same time. The First Alert model was outdated and obsolete, so I replaced it with the KIDDE brand one. Smoke detector just needed a new 9V battery. Problem solved!

Well the good news is, the CO detector is designed to alert you well before CO levels are immediately lethal. You do need to hightail it out of there, but you're not going to die before you get to the door.

I have a really old one in my apartment that did the chirp thing just this morning. It was a major pain in my ass because I don't want the maintenance crew coming in here yet again. So I just bought a new one. Ugh.... almost two hours of going to the store, buying a new battery, changing the battery, still hearing the chirping, researching the chirping online, driving to the hardware store, buying a new unit, installing the unit.

Okay but why doesn’t nobody talk about the one long continous beep that never stops not the constant “beeep beep beep beep beep beep” i mean mine went off and did the “beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep” didn’t stop until i pulled the batteries out

Mine is making the one long beep sound also. I can't get to see if anyone knew what that indicated.
