No, billboards are a different situation. Everybody knows that billboards are just advertising, and you don't need to read them. Actual highway signs are supposed to convey important information, so it's important to read them. Because everybody should be reading and understanding them, they should be as quick and easy to read as possible.

Fun fact, there’s a Kum n Go in my town, and they painted the windows outside to say “Kum inside” and it was, I shit you not, painted to look like the letters were DRIPPING a white substance.

Stephen's segment is usually great, but this one is absolute gold. I cracked up more than usual, and the pacing with rising and falling emotion vs humor was top notch. It felt like the peeps callbacks almost wrote themselves. Bravo!

Then Illinois and NJ should be sister states, bc Chicago is freakin' year-round construction. You absolutely have to plan where and when you have to use the bathroom if you're from out of state. Learned my lesson about that back in 2011 when I was headed to the Joliet Harrah's to meet up with a friend for a concert that was happening the next evening. How tf my friend deals with it is beyond me. 😅

No, because billboards are different. You know that you can ignore billboards when you're driving. Actual highway signage is supposed to convey important information, so everybody should be reading them. Because everybody should be reading them, they should be as simple and clear as possible.

I never got the reference to that. I always thought it was American slang spelling like nite and lite for night and light, respectively. I know the cum spelling means "with" as in magna cum laude (University degree).

I live in Missoula, Montana. When I came back to America in 2006, my brother was giving me a drive around showing off the city. Sure as hell, we drove past the "Kum & Go" and of course, I start laughing at it. Tim said :"When it first turned up some people were pissed about it, but now its just kind of a local joke. Not every city in America has one."

@@RabblesTheBinx Agreed, but they're under contract such that their "work products" (at least those specifically for the show and its related endeavors, are the legal property of Colbert's production company. But in Europe there is such a notion as "moral rights" such that even though all commercial value is properly with Colbert, they have a right (sometimes I have to bow in respect to those Europeans) to be acknowledged for what they've written. It's just decency.

@@jaymorf7374 the over-the-top indulgence in florid word play is exactly what the ""meanwhile-intro" art form is all about. Sad that you don't see it. While it's not an uncommon way to make fun of some topic or writings about it, the ability to remain (fairly) consistent and keep cranking them out is why I think it worth the effort. I'd spring some bucks for such a book. You don't have to agree on the merits of this "art" and more pointedly you don't have to buy the book if it were to happen. I simply voiced the (as far as I've seen never else raised, but of course I can't know all of who's said what when) idea that such a collection would be worthwhile, at least to those of us who find value in amusing wordplay.

But just as you see your life flash before your eyes and accept your fate, the snake is snatched out of the air by the stewardess who expertly puts it back in it's cage and, with a friendly smile, asks you if you would like some tea.

I grew up in northeast Iowa, and in HS my friends and I came up with many alternatives for Kum and Go: Spunk ‘N Split, Jizz & Jet, and my favorite, Ejaculate and Evacuate. Kum & Go is an institution and should stay present with name in tact!

The clarient reference caught me by surprise at the beginning. Primarily because the references to the parts caught my ears, and then he said 'Buffett' instead of 'Buffet', which is pronounced just like the serve-yourself type of dining. Still laughed.

Fun fact: here in Japan, there is actually a donut chain called "Jack in the Donuts." I love living in a place where English is considered exotic, so it gets put on absolutely everything, even when its meaning is not fully understood (or at least, when you HOPE its meaning is not fully understood!). ;)

I you ever make it to parts of Southern Colorado we have a Loaf- n-Jug. My dad tells me that our neighbor during the 1960s started it as a more local oriented convenience store competing with 7-11. They specialized in bread and milk, which probably irked the bakeries and dairies who did delivery. One trip and you probably could do groceries some less busy night. He did well, then sold it. Now you can't get either bread or milk there heading home late, because they don't keep those stocked as much as all kinds of other stuff marked up twice as high as a grocery, but open all night.

When travelling across the US on a long journey, I had to stop for gas. Kum and Go? LoL. Good upbeat laugh on the journey. Lets not lose "Fudge from Uranus!". Great fudge and sense of humor marketing.
