Driver Andy Reynolds of the Top Alcohol Hydro "Running With Scissors" talks about what he does to measure his propellers to keep track of there movement each pass! Many times you can find weakening propeller blades before a dye checking test will show that there is a crack developing.

Andy thank you for your professional advice. I always seat the prop on the shaft and mark it , so I know its all the way up on the taper before I make my keyway fron a chromium screwdriver. Im going to start measuring it regularly on the boat 81 Deaver drag hydro "Hystrung" Subscribed

This might be oddly specific, and not too sure if you have any experiences with surface drive setups, but... looking at different prop options right now and can't really start on a place to start. I have a 18' 2700lb 15 degree deadrise 800hp turbo LS ~25% rear COG that im running with my custom dropbox that takes winters gearsets so i can use any gear ratio from way underdriven to over. in theory I should be able to run 110-125mph. thinking to start with an 4 blade, 24 pitch, 15.25" diameter, 15 rake cleaver with an 1.38 ratio. but i can run anything from v-drive to #6 26 splice props

I have not run a surface drive setup before but have had a few friends mess with them. One had on in a 25 Cat. The only issue is the boat would try to swap ends with him at higher speeds...in other words it would try to propwalk sideways to try and drive the boat around. We experience this somewhat with our set ups..that is why you only see us run 2 bladed props in order to eliminate the torque of 3 or 4 blades which drive the back of the boat sideways on the starting line... maybe smaller prop and bigger gears??? Sorry I missed your comment. I don't have any knowledge of what you would need for your application. I assume you want a 3 blade in the 15 pitch range depending on the size of boat the motor is on.
