What line would you use for a 3 inch 410 shell?
@mayvilleinc
@mayvilleinc Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your question! The Rammer tube setting is at the second line counting from the top down to the edge of the turret head. However, with the different wad manufacturers and recipes this may need to be adjusted. The pressure indicator shouldn’t read over 40lbs when seating the wad. This would be excessive, and the Rammer tube should be raised. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

Hello! Thank you for contacting us. Please answer the following questions to help us answer your question: What machine are you using? What shell (brand and height 2 ¾ or 3”)? What brand of powder, and which wad (maker and model number)? Thank you! - MEC

What if your machine is set up for 3" shells. Are the settings the same?
@mayvilleinc
@mayvilleinc 2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your question! For 3” shells, the Rammer tube will be set for the load that you will be using. Raising or lowering the tube so the pressure indicator just moves, will be just fine. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

Which would be the correct line for a 3/4oz load? I’m loading 20g on a 650. Also, I’ve been getting a lot of shot bridging, lately. Loading #7 1/2 shot. I pulled the tubes and cleaned them with a wire bore brush, but I still am getting some bridging.
@mayvilleinc
@mayvilleinc 5 жыл бұрын
Hi flairball, Thanks for commenting. When reloading 20 gauge 3/4oz. loads, the rammer tube should be set between the 2nd and 3rd line on the top of the tube. Shot may bridge in the tube if the shot size is larger than #7 1/2 shot or if it is reclaimed shot. In this case, a larger 20 gauge rammer tube #8906 can be obtained through MEC Outdoors website: www.mecoutdoors.com or calling 1-800-797-4632.

How do I move the rammer tube? After loosening the shown screw the tube still seems locked in place

@@Zx9crazy2 Tilt the charge bottles away to expose the top of the rammer tube. Remove the black plastic filler attachment. Then tap on the top of the rammer tube to loosen.

by adjusting the rammer tube are you adjusting just the height of it or is this how you adjust the wad pressure?
@MECOutdoors
@MECOutdoors 10 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is how you change the wad pressure. Wad pressure is not needed with modern day wads. Wad pressure was needed for the old fiber wads that were used years ago. All you need today is for the modern day wads to be seated on top of the powder to seal.

so if I have it on the correct line for the shot size I'm throwing then what type of pressure on the piece below should it show. Should it move up at all when seating the wad?

MEC ShootingSports I was able to see what your were talking about after receiving and reloading on my steelmaster. I am very happy with the press but I still do have a few questions after seeing this video months later. 1.) Why are you moving the rammer tube line for different shot loads if companies are making wads that are taller or shorter to allow the wads to remain the same height in the shotshell? If all the wads are the same height but just have different size cups to hold shot amounts then wouldn't the adjustment crush the wad in the shell? 2.) I am thinking about later moving to a progessive shotshell loader and your company is the only one that has lines on the rammer tube. How can I tell, without these lines, if I have the right wad seating depth? 3.) How do I tell if I am crushing the wad in the shell?

I am going to make with 1-1/2 oz lead shot. Which line should I set to?
@MECOutdoors
@MECOutdoors 9 жыл бұрын
+weekend hunter It should be on the fifth line showing above the red turret for 1 1/2oz shot. Depending on the wad you might have to go to the 6th line. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call us at 800-797-4632.

MEC Outdoors Hi, I’m about to start reloading for the first time and this comment has left me confused after watching the video. The video says for 1-1/8oz load use line 5, for 1oz use line 6, for 7/8oz load use line 7 so why would 1-1/2 be set at the 5th line and possibly move to the 6th line if it’s so much heavier. Based on the video I’d have guessed that 1-1/2 might be at line line 3 and 1-1/4 which is what I want to reload being at line 4. Any clarification would be much appreciated

what do u mean by alternate loads? 5 bars how many ounces?
@mkm01231
@mkm01231 6 жыл бұрын
It sounded like "alternate" loads, but what he said was "ounce and an eighth" loads. Too bad we have to find these instructions on KZfaq instead of the owners manual. I downloaded the MEC Sizemaster Owner's manual from their website and it is actually older than the hard copy that came with my press which was published in 2000. So much missing info in the owners manual. Great press though.
