Mecha Anime OPs: The 60s & 70s Part 1/3.avi

A compilation of OPs of mecha and giant robot animes from the 60s and 70s. I did not make this compilation nor was there any person or group credited with it when I got it off torrent in 2004. Wish there was, the compilations were brilliant! As far as I know each OP is arranged in chronological order of their original airing, so it is entertaining to see the evolution (and some horribly cheap copycats) of the genre.
There were 3 compilations, "60s&70s" (335mb), "80s" (700mb) and "90s" (700mb).
This is part one of three from the 60s & 70s.

I lived in Okinawa from 75'-79', those toons were cutting edge @ the time... even had the toys of most of them robots....

I can name a few. Mazinger Z was renamed "Tranzor Z" when it was brought to the USA in 1985. And Golion was dubbed as Voltron in 1984. Both shows were heavily edited so that they would be safe for kids to watch, deleting all the scenes that had violence, gore, and dramatic character deaths. But they also deleted some scenes that were important to the story. Voltron is perhaps one of the most well-remembered anime cartoons of the 80s.

These videos were in fact made by a fansub group called Anime-in-Action. (They are the ones who fansubbed GaoGaiGar). Be sure to give credit where credit is due, and thank you a lot for making these videos easily accessible on KZfaq ^^

Best Openings in this part, in my opinion: Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Great Mazinger, Getter Robo G, Kotetsu Jeeg, and Gai King. Honorable mention goes to Raideen, who's opening is sung by Masato Shimon.

Five were made into the "Force Five" series which aired in the USA, they were Gaiking, Danguard Ace, Getter Robo G, Grendizer and Starzinger. Getter Robo G became Starvengers, Grendizer became Grandizer and Starzinger became Spaceketeers.

They showed one seperately a day years after they aired. I didnt realize till years later how little episodes there were of a few of them. They didnt ruin them. Geez. I didnt realize that the first one aired back in 72. I didnt see it until 83 or 84. No wonder i said..wtf is this as a kid. It wasnt even up to g force/gatchaman or even speed racer.

Had to admit these 60-70s Robot shows are funny and ridiculous to modern standards but they still need respect because without them we wouldnt see the badassery of the mecha genre today

It's a charming, innocent show with ideas that defined the entire Mecha genre. It was an experiment that worked extremely well (& Quality Orchestra work).

Heres a long shot... I'm looking for an anime from aprox 40 years ago. It wasn't a mech theme. It was about a boy who fancies himself a pirate & gets trapped in this weird subteranian world looking for a treasure. had an assortment of monsterish rivals. Caught one episode when I was visiting my grandparents as a kid & next time I went back it wasn't on. So I don't even remember the title!
