If there are an even number of wheels spinning whichever cog is last well spin in the opposite direction. Conversely, if there is an odd number of wheels, the last and the first will spin in the same direction.

for the exercises with gears, and determinate the rotacion, there a very simple way to do it: if there is mechanism with ODD number of gears, the final gear will turn to the same direction than the driver gear, if is PAIR, is always going to rotate in the opposite direction. hope it helps, regards

for Q5 the beam is longer on the right side so C is eliminated as X is heavier than Z.. B is eliminated because it is the same distance from the fulcrum as weight Z ... i saw you say that A is incorrect, but it seems to be the only plausible answer

In the US, "anti-clockwise" is almost always referred to as "counter-clockwise". Just an FYI.

How are we supposed to determine where X goes on Q5? We have 0 info beside the fact it weights more but even then we don’t even know how much it actually weights

Q5) I'd say C. Just because the question doesn't give any information on the weights or the length of the lever. You'd really have to assume they're the same weight in different shapes, given it's a first class lever.

I think you're wrong I think pendulum A will swing faster, the bar is up high yes but it's too close to the pendulum weight, obviously for perfect performance the weight should be below the bar. But we really don't know what type of pendulum it is & theoretically it could swing upside down, looking at yours D if the bar is the hinge how is it going to be faster against A?

Is the answer to Q8 B because the surface area which is supported by the diagonal beam is greater, therefore the weight is distributed over a greater area and so the shelf can support more weight?

Question 5 isn’t fair because you don’t know the ratio of the sizes nor the weight so most logical guesses would be A. B would be the second guess but it’s impossible to be right without knowing the weights or ratio of weights. Also on question 10 when you word it with pull the mass object over with, my first instinct was C due to the fact I thought you meant horizontally. A is the obvious answer if you are trying to “tip” it over or rotate it. If you could edit this video and make it a bit clearer it would really help.

On Q7 how do you know the top cog is going anti clockwise instead of clockwise

In Q5 why would we have to put weight X at point A why not point B? Do anyone knows the logic or any formula to solve this? Please let me know. I will be really very thankfull.

Q12 Answer is A. A third of the working height. The working height is 21 meters..... a third of 21 meters.....21/3....=7.....7 meters.

I'm sure it is different for US metrics but here goes my answers: Q.2: A will turn Clockwise Q.5: I will submit my answer a B since it may equalize out the difference Q.8: B, heavier the Support the more stability for the Load Q.11: B; if my mind is picturing this right than B should be correct. Q.12: This one stumped me so I will Go with A. I feel C. is correct so I don't know.
