Meet five pilots from the Smoke Jaguar clan and check out mech-action gameplay from MechWarrior 5: Clans in this latest trailer for the upcoming new standalone tactical action game. MechWarrior 5: Clans features a Clan Invasion story, and the ability to harness the power of a Mech of your choosing in single-player or up to five-player cooperative play, where you jump into a lore-filled universe. MechWarrior 5: Clans will be available on PS5 (PlayStation 5), Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam in 2024.

Smoke Jaguar was the antagonist in Mech Commander 1, Mech Warrior 3 and now we get a chance to see from their perspective. This looks awesome. Been a Battle Tech fan since 1998.

Man this looks quite a bit better than MW5's presentation. Perhaps this is the real MW5. Spiritual successor to Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat also about the clans.

MW5 shared a lot of assets from mechwarrior online. This one might have been been built from the ground up judging by its amped up graphics. Possibly using a newer version of unreal.

This is a completely new game from the ground up. This will not be a DLC to compliment MW5. New graphics engine will mean this will be a standalone install.

Shadow Cat is what the main mech here is. Uziel is an Inner Sphere mech, not used by the Clans.

In the end though, all the other games have covered every other Clan in the invasion corridors: Wolf, Jade Falcon and Ghost Bear. So theirs is the only unseen perspective from a game point of view. Would be interesting to see if we play "Mwahaha I'm evil, my scout star is orbital bombardment." or if it's a bit more sympathetic.

Some of you may notice that the cadets all kinda look the same. That is NOT a failure in the graphics or character design. All five of them are in fact; siblings. Yeah, Clan lore in Battletech (Mechwarrior) gets a little... wierd.

It will be one of the best games in series if it will have normal scripted campaign, like mw3-4 did. MW5 was great in many aspects, except for quickly annoying same-typed generated missions: kill mech, destroy fence, protect garage etc
