Omg thanks for the very polite message of why not to distract a service dog in public. My partner is a 2 yr old Great Dane who is still in training. We run into these distractions every time we go to a store (which is not often due to my need for a service dog)

I get bad migraines, I have a seizure disorder, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, I dissociate, and I also have autism. I am going to be 18 this month, after I move out of my parents house I am planning on getting a dog and owner training him or her to be my service dog. Having a service dog will make life so much easier for me!

What really bothers me are those who hate dogs and to are prejudiced against service dogs. One year at the Irwindale Rennassaince Fare, on Mother's Day, they threw out all the women with service dogs, including guide dogs and they refused to look at letters from doctors and trainters.

I love this video! Buddy is so awesome! The look on his face at the start of the video is too funny. He almost looked condescending or like he was so proud of himself (which he should be). I wonder if you’re complex partial seizures go hand in hand. I have complex partial seizures and will wind up with a pretty bad headache 4-5 hours after. They wrap around my forehead from temple to temple. I don’t know if I would consider it a migraine because I’m still able to function and an IBU will usually take care of it. But I just wonder because he alerted you of the complex partial seizure and then later alerted you that you were going to have a migraine. Anyways it’s just a random thought. You and your pup are badass!

Aw, Buddy is such a handsome fella! My Gertrude (rescue mutt - 50% Golden Retriever, 25% Boxer, 25% Am Staff) is now 3 and turns on the lights for me at night (I plugged motion detection night lights into all the important areas) and will come to me if I bend down at the waist (low blood pressure faint possible). Now I'm curious how to get her to alert to migraines as I'm susceptible. Dogs are simply the greatest (and cutest) creatures we have. I have another, Momo, who's 10 yrs old - 50% German Spitz, 25% Husky, 25% ??? and he's smarter than everyone in my household put together, but too dang hyper to help me - he'd probably run circles around me in excitement if I fainted, maybe even do a few paw springs on my chest, lol. Gerts is my savior, though. I may not know how to get her to alert me to those migraines, but helping me see at night and giving me support when I'm about to black out is priceless. She's not a technical service dog (still have a couple public manner things to work on), but I certainly consider her one around the house!

Awesome video!! My 2 yr old was just diagnosed with migraines like yours and his docs solution is meds twice a day and he said it's lifelong. We were looking to get a dog but 35 to 60,000 is out of our price range :( was looking to try and train ourselves but as I'm seeing from videos like yours that may not be possible.can I ask are you on meds as well? The meds thry give him make him drowsy all day, dizzy and his mood is so violent. I can't honestly see keeping him on this long term. Do you personally having one, think a service dog would be a good option for a child so young. Do you think a service dog could bond with a child so young and addiquitely be a service dog and not feel like all kids are play kids? I know you're not a trainer. Just asking your opinion since you have one. Judt humping into looking because his episodes last 2-4minutes. Eyes shaking, hands and feet stop working correctly, falls to the ground. But he freaks out. Tries to get up and run for help and I worry about school years when I can't be with him. He averages 2-10 events a day but with this medicine it's 2-5 a week but I really really worry about effects being on meds long term. All the docs said this is a lifetime illness with lifetime meds, and that can't be healthy. I didn't know migraines could cause events like these and thought the doc was insane when they said this but I am happy to see that while a nuisance and annoying thry are manageable via your videos so thank you for posting them and sharing with us!

I am working on saving enough to afford a miniature Schnauzer. I use forearm crutches so I need a smaller breed of dog to alert. Luckily, I usually have an aura before a grand Mal seizure, so I can usually get down, but don’t always have that luxury. I have partial aeizures as well. Did you self train or get yours from an organization? There is only one in my state, and it costs 18,000 to do this. My seizures can go up to two months with out occurring so I have looked into Paws with a cause, but the require at least one a month. The milder ones happen at least a few times a week, but I can’t leave my son alone for a month lol he’d go nuts, or drive his nana nuts:) 😂

Hello. My name is Rachel. I have partial seizures, often preceeded by migraines, caused by a TBI many years ago. I am wondering about getting a dog because it just seems wise to have one, in the least! How often do you seize or have migraines? Did people not validate your disorder because you don't "look ill"? I need help! I don't feel at peace with being alone for much of my day, while my kids are at school and while my husband is working. Can you provide some feedback? Can we talk, email, etc?

@kaitlyndelbosque827
@kaitlyndelbosque827 2 жыл бұрын
you typically use cotton swabs, when your condition is about to start up, during, and after it happens you'll swab the inside of your mouth and put them separately in baggies. once you're ready to start training you typically will have your dog in front of you and have the smell each bag and have them paw at it every time they smell it, you reward them and continue that process.

@MommingwithMigraine
@MommingwithMigraine 2 жыл бұрын
To be completely honest I'd call it up in the air. The reason for the maybe-retraction was a 20 minute EEG that was normal... but I'm personally hesitant to completely rule it out from that because I had no episode during the EEG, and half of EEG's are normal even for people who do get seizures.

I am thinking about to get a service dog because I have POTS and when I have a episodes my vision goes gray and blurry, I get dizzy to the point I almost pass out, I can't think we'll, ect. I think a dog mat help so that they can tell me when I'm about to have an episode and I can have them to elevate my feet when I have to lay down. Also, one could help by putting pressure on my legs so my blood gets to my brain faster.

If you think a service dog could help you, the best thing to do would be to talk to your doctor about whether a pup would be a good fit!
