I'm am studying for the CCS. I've taken the 'old fashioned' CPC and am credentialed. I've never taken a computerized coding credentialed exam. I wasn't sure about the 'space' allowed for the actual coding books? Should I utilize my lap to look up codes for the national exam due to lack of space? Odd question, I understand. Thank you.

Thanks Bleu 💙 I ended up finding the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Handbook, with Answers, 2021 for 50 the 2019 version was $199 😮. Is the 2021 still good right? 😊

Hi I'm new to this field and I have some questions 1. I want to become a COC what are the specific books I need to become a COC? 2. in order to take the exam I have to use the CPT book of the year but lets say I get the book now theirs 8 months until the new year starts and what if I need more time to study and understand it and what if 8 months isn't enough for me and I have the 2024 book but when the new year hits is it allowed to use the 2024 book on the exam when its 2025 or no I have to get the 2025 im just a little scared about that sorry I hope my question makes sense 😭😭😭

You should take a look at job listings and you'll see that from aapc the employers look for the cpc more than the coc. Also on the website it will tell you you can use the previous year books in the current year for example, you take the exam in 2025 with 2024 books with aapc, they say you can but if the code is not in your book bc it's been updated you're at a disadvantage so its a gamble but you can do it.

@@queenikkiithearies5282 they both say you're proficient in outpatient coding. The only difference is that the coc has more reimbursement questions. It's not a coc job, persay, you'd be applying for outpatient coding, or professional fee positions either way. Again look at the job listings, you'll see what I'm saying.

I have a question, do i have to get these books in hard copies? Can i work as a coder using the pdf version of them?

You'll have to have them for your test. You won't be about to use a pdf for testing.

Ok I keep hearing about the tests I live in wyoming is the tests in person or online I am wanting to go through ahima (seems most logical and user friendly).

The tests are administered through the Pearson Vue testing centers for AHIMA certifications. I looked and they are all over Wyoming. home.pearsonvue.com/citrix
