Pharmacists have literally saved my life. My doctor ordered a medication that had sulfa in it… This was right after I told him I’m deathly allergic to sulfa… The pharmacist asked me about my allergies and I confirmed I’m allergic to sulfa. The look on her face man. She was out for blood with that doctor. She politely apologized and said she could not fill the script and then immediately called my doctor and chewed him out on the phone. 😂 He quickly prescribed something else and I got to live for another day. Yay!

@@flamecolumn This is probably a troll, but I am tired of pharmacists' work being downplayed. I'll fucking take your bait if it means defending these incredible essential workers. A tenth grader could not, in fact, do the job a pharmacist in a retail store could do. Yes, it's soul-sucking and repetitive, but pharmacists have to have an extensive knowledge of drugs, drug interactions, effectiveness of drug treatment, patient allergies and history, and more in able to do their jobs correctly. Pharmacists receive dozens, if not, hundreds of prescriptions to fill everyday. They have to call insurance to check to see if those drugs are covered. They have to call doctors whenever certain drugs are prescribed because they may not be effective in treating the issue the patient is facing. A pharmacist is still a medical worker. They help people just like doctors. Just because most of their work is behind the scenes, it doesn't mean what they do is easy. It's not just counting. Because they're a medical worker in a retail setting, they get the worst of both worlds. Entitled people coming up to their drive-thrus or windows expecting them to just cough up whatever pills they want like med vending machines. And what's wrong with pharmacists getting a doctorate? A more extensive education would lead to greater knowledge of one's field. Pharmacists deserve so much more respect than people give them. They bust their asses so people can get the medications they need.

@@AT-il2ej You do realize that virtually everything is specialized so that they can be fully confident in what they know, since no one can know everything, only portions right? It's streamlined that way for redundancy checks to prevent life and death accidents. The medical system is one big, interlocking team. Why so many people, particularly those outside of the industry, try to make this a ranking system, I just don't know. Because that's ignorant and foolish.

@ItsAllAboutPerspective375 2 жыл бұрын
@@AT-il2ejNot the best example using 3mg of Clonidine, but I understand your point. Yes, there are doctors who are solely concerned about their specialty only, particularly surgeons. Like a Cardiologist who is only concerned about the heart, instead of the patient's entire homeostasis/well-being. There are always outliers in everything, especially when concerning the humans themselves, via simple human nature and error in various forms. But that's not the general way of function, and none of this has anything to do with your radical, rude and uncalled for accusations of a stranger, based off of virtually no information. You're the one who made the assertion, they never even stated how often or to what degree the nature of the calls were. Maybe you're just not in Healthcare, so you don't fully understand.

By second year I learned to put why I was given each Med in my note. When I got called about those meds I just referred them to my note. They finally started looking at my notes and I got way fewer pimp sessions from the pharmacy.

@@CandyGirl44 What country are you in where melatonin, a cheap and easily sourced and generally harmless naturally produced substance, is actually by prescription only? Pharmacists really are the best medical professionals, prove me wrong Mine have gone out of their way to ensure that I dont die, sometimes chewing out both doctors and insurance. Especially insurance. One time BCBS *changed my date of birth* to ensure a med wouldnt get filled--the absolute fury and politeness my pharmacist had on my behalf was inspiring

I'm a pharmacy tech and I don't know anywhere near what the pharmacists know, but you would be surprised how many prescriptions come in that are way too vague for us to fill. We got a script one time for "Medical equipment". Which one??? For pills we at least need to know many tablets and how many times a day. If you send in Gabapentin with "Use as directed" on it, you're going to get an angry call from the pharmacy
