We’d planned to get health screenings during our visit to Kuala Lumpur, but Sarah ended up getting total knee replacement surgery! During her recovery, Kevin had other medical things taken care of, and we’ll share some details and costs with you.

Prince Court Medical Centre is classified as a 6 stars hospital. There are other good hospitals too, such as Gleneagles, Sunway, Park City, etc.

Excellent video guys! I, myself, have my MM2H and so once I am there more FT I plan to do all you did with the screenings. Maybe do the full MRI type of screening where they literally look at every inch of you. I am a huge fan of Malaysia and I want to thank you for highlighting this known aspect about Malaysia that I feel people discount or think would be inferior care. Uh no, these private plans and facilities are top notch and are full of western taught medical professionals. Thank you, I subscribed.

Most Malaysians who cannot afford a private hospital will visit gov clinics or hospitals. Of course the queue is long. The minimum charge is 1 ringgit. But surgery or chemo is not expensive compared to a private hospital.

Malaysian above 60 enjoys free (or heavily subsidized) medical treatment at all government healthcare centres. The Malaysian government also provide community healthcares for rural areas and available 365 days a year. So no surprise, for big medical centers to make huge bucks, they have to be competitive vying for paying customers, mainly insured patients and foreign patients.

Slight correction if I may : Almost free (heavily subsidised) medical care and treatment in Malaysia for ALL (not just for above 60) Malaysian citizens at public/government hospitals and clinics.

The medications actually are much cheaper from the pharmacy (a quater than the counters) - not the branded ones (e.g. watson/guardians) or those in the shopping malls, but usually in the residential area... which are not far from the city center anyway.

"You might get your drugs here" - I laughed hard because you are absolutely smart over the moon !! Yes, Malaysian medical quality & services are absolutely another level compare to many so called First World. No way you are getting second tier. Experience to believe it. This should be the health care for everyone.

TKR in ipoh is way much cheaper. Only rm18500.00. 5 days stay in hospital. Follow up consultation is 120.00 each visit to doctor. Every 2 weeks is like 240.00. Pills and tablets is less than rm100.00 per week. Not including physiotherapy. Rm120.00 per session.
