Good informational video. Finger extensor mechanism is quite complex. I developed index finger lateral band snapping syndrome after my finger probably overextended when I reached something from a tight pocket. Man it kinda sucks and my specialist opted not to have surgery since the finger kinda works and doesn't get stuck in flexion or extension.

My extensor tendons all move aside every time I make a fist. It happens on both hands but it isn't painful. However, when I open my hand, the tendon moves over the joint, back in place, and it creates a very slight lag to the movement. My direct family members don't have it, even my cousins and other relatives. I must admit it bother me a bit.

Awesome video. Had an Avulsion fracture at pip joint 3 rd digit. 14 months ago. NO. Surgery. Splint 6 weeks with DIP free follow by PT. No I have bad pain at the middle phalanx in flexion and the DIP slightly dipping down. And it feels like DIP wants to rise out of my skin. When my finger is straight , it won’t hinge back at the PIP joint -no matter how hard I try. when I push on it with my other finger , it kind of hinges back and springs forward like a rubber band. Did my lateral bands shift down , is tendon so tight or did it shorten. Any theories from info I gave you. Thanks..

Hi, I'm unable to over extend one of my finger at the metacarpophalangeal joint - The pain is there only when i try to over extend my finger like you explain at 1:25 , pretty sure it's injury to long extensor as i can feel little lump which i do not feel on other fingers when i run my finger over them. it has been over 6 months and it has not got any better? should i go see surgeon again as they had said it will heal after some time on its own - do you know if the healing process in these extensors/tendons is lengthy ? thank you

You sound like you have developed a “mallet finger”, which happens if the extensor tendon is injured, sometimes with a fracture as well. I would certainly recommend that you see a hand surgeon. It may get better with splints only, or you may need surgery to improve it. Hope this helps.

Doc I had an accident. A glass torn my extensor tendon in my foot. How many months before full recovery? How many months before you can 100% walk normally? Just curious 🥺🥺 its been 3 months now. I can use my foot bit cant bear my weight yet 100% is this normal post?

My sister hit my hand severely and the middle tendons shifted and 16years now haven't been able to move my middle finger backwards and in severe 😭😭 pains...the longest fingers has now reduce to about the size of my little finger😭😭😭😭
