+Adam Wasserman well audiences at Bayrueth are booing performances with regular frequency now so I'm not sure that means anything. The venue they sing at does not mean my opinion is not valid. I do not find his voice beautiful. It's okay if you do though.

The fact of the matter is, modern heldentenor vocal production is an unsustainable fantasy that values volume over musicality: there's a reason that there are virtually no singers who can make a full career singing this repertoire today and last longer than five years. I suggest you return to Wagner's own writings about what type of voice he preferred. Why then, I ask you, did were Max Lorenz, Claude Heater, Vickers, etc etc able to achieve a baritonal heroic quality to their sound while also achieving ringing high notes and being incredibly musical? They had careers that were 20+ years long so something also tells me this singing is healthy and one is able to have a long career singing this way. In short, history and my ears tell me otherwise. You have not reasoned with me why audiences are booing at Bayreuth. Why they booed Croft during the MET's ring when the audience could not hear him. Just because he sings at Bayreuth doesnt mean fuck. (Katharina Wagner was fucking a tenor that sang at Bayreuth every year as long as he did what she wanted) Vogt sounds like a eunuch - it is excruciating. This year he was outsung by the David - so it is not a case of a dearth of tenors who can sing and can sing this role.
