Traditional carpentry like 1200 years ago. For timber processing, nothing but a bearded axe is used. Charcoal, a cord made of basswood and a plumb were used to mark the wood.

Remarkable, considering the axe used. A hewer of this skill could have gotten the timber as smooth as glass with a 19th century axe.

Great video. Thank you. I'm wondering what this profession was called. A sawyer would be the name for someone making timbers by sawing, right? But by hewing? Or did the same person do both things?

Lovely video. Really enjoyed it. Having hewed timber myself it’s interesting to see these older methods. Using a smaller axe than most do today must be quite tiring. But then I suppose the user only had one axe to do all from felling to hewing? Looking forward to seeing more videos. Itching to now go hew a beam myself! Thanks.

They used smaller axes, at least in the 9th century as steel was a very expensive material. But the advantage is as you say when you use one axe from felling to hewing you become very skillful. Its not very tiring to work with. But I do not have any comparison as I never worked with a european broad axe. Thanks alot by the way

I thought they marked lines on the length of timber by covering a taut string with chalk dust and then flicking it onto the wood.

Honestly it might be more pleasing with just the sound of you working. Almost ASMR style. The music is almost distracting. Very good work though nice angles. Love the work and the sounds.

Fake video. In between cut scenes they use a power tool. then they rough it out a bit with the axe to make it look like the whole thing was done by hand. what a scam.

Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better. And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊 Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄 I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD🙏 Amen. 🙏 You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both ☺ Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol.
