You know, if they ever thought of giving the 2nd game a shot in terms of remaking stuff, I think this game would probably benefit from a re-imagining of the PS1 original, improving or revamping aspects that were left to be desired.

The rushed nature of the game comes off a lot to me in how there's fewer levels and themes that they recycle more than once and the bullshit health system which I personally think is just a way to add false difficulty to the game increasing the padding. As of this comment I haven't played it since 2017, I remember an alright experience with a lot more frustration compared to the first one

MediEvil 2 was my jam when I was a kid. Played the demo in a store as a kid, all I found was M2 when I finally got a PSX. Back then I didn't know it was a sequel, I was 10 and didn't realize the II in the background. I actually never played the original until last year when I finally got a PS3, but I was desperately hoping to play M2 again after 12 years of being out of the gaming scene. At least the Playstation store has Megaman Legends 1 and 2. I love those games too.

I have questions. Why does Dan talkin this game? Why does Kiya never get enough lines? Why does Kiya not have enough interaction with Dan to truly validate their affection for each other? Why does no one realize that Dan being resurrected was a fluke in the first game, but ironic for his redemption story and why can’t they accept that his redemption could also be a fluke but give him a chance to continue to be a hero because he’s the hero the world needs? Did nobody else know that the bad ending for the second game was actually setting up for a third game on the PS2?

I'd love to see SCXCR do a retrospective of the Resident Evil series. MediEvil scared the bejeezus out of me when I was 6. I was a giant wuss. I'd love you guy's opinion on the PS4 remaster.

Hi Blondeguygamer. Good job on the review, it's been a while. BTW, have you thought about the Tales of retrospective? Maybe you could do a 'They Made a Sequel' episode with Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World?

The Tales of retrospective will come back, it's just taking a while. As for Dawn of the New World, it'll just be its own part of the retrospective after Vesperia.

Did you not like that game either? Cause you didn't care for Medievil 2 here. I also wanted to mention I am sorry if Sir Dan was screwed over in Playstation All Stars.I am also not happy with Sony at times, especially what they did to Kratos in the God of War reboot. >:(

@@JojoMonReturns91 I didn't think Dan was bad. He and Kat from Gravity Rush are my favorite characters to play as in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

I hate to rain on your parade BGG, but you’re incorrect about Steve Blum at 24:43-24:47. Mainly because he had nothing to do with this game, as MediEvil 2 has a total of three voice actors doing multiple roles each; Ben Stephens, Marc Silk and Melanie Hudson. Which one was Palethorn voiced by, then? Well according to IMDB, that would be Sir Silk. And along with Palethorn, he also voiced a boss named The Count, that you show off at 10:53, Winston the Ghost, and M2’s incarnation of Sir Fortesque.

Heck, I didn’t even need IMDB to tell you about him voicing Winston, as Marc used a similar voice, but in a lower register and without that terrible accent, thankfully, in the following games that I’ve played: - A PS1 game named 40 Winks, in which he voiced main antagonist NiteKap. and He’s been the UK voice of Specter, the Ape Escape franchise’s main villain, in almost every entry that came over from Japan to the West. I say that because one of the spin-offs that NTSC-U territories got, Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed, was never released in PAL territories. Anyway, Marc's times voicing Specter would be in: - Ape Escape 1’s PSP remake, subtitled On the Loose in the US and P in Europe. As for the PS1 original? Well, while the UK release got its own dub too, not only does Specter have a different VA in that dub, but like everybody else who acted in it, that bloke was completely uncredited for his work. Not to mention that this dub seems to be the only project that all of those people worked on, too. So as a result, nobody knows who voiced who. - Ape Escapes 2 & 3. and - Ape Escape Academy and its Japan and Europe-only sequel, Ape Academy 2. And while AA2 was re-released digitally worldwide on the PS4 & 5 on 21/03/2023, keep in mind that it’s being emulated, so all of the voices remain the same, including Marc’s. And now, here's a list of Specter's US voice actors: - Pete Burrows in PS1 Ape Escape 1. - Greg Abbey in Ape Escape 2. - Crispin Freeman in Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed (but like AE1 PS1's UK dub, he and the rest of that game's English cast were uncredited). - Dee Bradley Baker in Ape Escape 1's PSP remake. And last, but not least, - We have the ONLY bloke who got to voice Specter in English more than once besides Marc Silk, and that would be Charlie Schlatter, who voiced him in Ape Escape 3 and Ape Academy 1. Now, as for why England needed to make its own dubs for the games that came out worldwide, when we could've just used the American ones like we do for franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog? No clue, but due to the US dubs changing actors for Specter in almost every game, most likely because of each one being dubbed by different companies, Marc’s take on the character is by far the most consistent English one.

Although the soundtrack was amazing, ganeplay was poor. The atrocious camera angles, permanent loss of Health Fountains and lack of gold to purchase ammunition for the last level made it unplayable at this point. Perhaps it can be reworked like the original.

16:58 there's a book outside the ring you can read between rounds when you fight the imps, that has all the moves explained

Admittedly, I did miss that book in my playthrough, but you are still thrown in a round at the start beforehand. And after that you're likely too preoccupied chasing imps under a time limit to go read that book. Had I catch that and revised, I would have just said that it's not a very good placement for in-game instructions.
