I just became a health insurance agent this year at the age of 70. I appreciate your explanation of the differences and I am disappointed that I was not given better information and chose an Advantage plan. No one explained how the supplemental plans work as well as you do. Now I can explain it to my future clients so they can make an informed decision.

Just went to a Medicare and MA plan provider. All she wanted to do was sell us a MA plan and not talk about regular Medicare. She was not aware I had been educating myself for months on these plans. I figured she was getting a higher fee. Thanks for doing what most on YT and TV are not factually telling the difference.

YES AS A RETIRED NAVY NURSE...I AGREE .ITS INTENTIONALLY CONFUSING SO THAT THOSE COMPANIES CAN MAKE MONEY OFF OF PEOPLE...STAY WITH ORIGINAL MEDICARE UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND OTHER CHOICES.... IF YOU GOW WITH ADVANTAGE PLAN ..YOU CAN NOT GO BACK T[ ORIGINAL PLAN... SO SUPPLEMENT SEEMS BEST CHOICE TO LOOK TOWARD YOUR FUTURE...AND CAN AFFORD IT.....

Re: "AS A RETIRED NAVY NURSE." .... My oldest son s a Navy Corpsman. My father was career Navy. I used to tell my son about a multi-year medical event I had that none of the doctors could figure out. But a Navy Corpsman looked at my record and said "I have an idea, let's try this.... By the end of the day he found a benign bone tumor in my left tibia that was pinching my sciatic nerve for more than four years. Hat's off to Navy Corpsman!

Great advice. It's best to do A, B and supplement G and the prescription supplement. The other is to go with an insurance company who has been in business for a long time vs one that has been in business for a short time.

Great video Matthew. I worked in health care my whole life. Most folks don't know that when you get admitted to a hospital, you sign a big stack of forms. One of those forms gives the hospital permission to put a lien on your home. If your not insured, or under insured, a lien on your home can force the sale or could lead to medical bankruptcy. Good insurance is so important. Thank you for your great presentations.

Have been on Medicare for years, but have learned a lot from watching your videos. Thanks for making them. I have a few health issues so I chose a plan G a long time ago. Has worked out great for me. I have found to check the premium for plan G from different company's can change the premium for that plan. Just have to answer all the health questions again and get acceptance from the new company if I understand it all. I know if my new company excepts me I will save almost a hundred dollars a month on premium. Thanks again for all the info you provide.

Another great video, much appreciated. I would like to have seen even a general cost comparison for a person in good health/few prescription between Medicare+MSP+PartD and MAP +bundled PartD and a similar comparison for a person in poor health/several prescriptions. I have some questions: 1. if most MAPs cover 80% cancer costs, why do you need to check for this or were you just making the point that if this spans two years? 2. How to you avoid a gap in health services? If you retire at 65 and your existing health cover stops then so you have to enroll in medicare in the 3 months prior to 65 so that Medicare starts immediately? 3. Related to #2. If your spouse (younger) and kids are on your existing health plan, what happens to them? 4. Not a question, just a comment.@28:08 "Theres never any pre-existing nor medical questions for a MAP!". This sounded like a "benefit" but when you think about it, the ins co dont need underwriting because they have total control to restrict or deny your benefits under a MAP. 5. Since Part A costs nothing (for most ppl), is there any disadvantage of enrolling for part A if you continue working past 65 for an employer with 20+employees with creditable insurance? 6. If you have a MAP, so you still have to pay deductible/copays that would have been due for Part A under original Medicare? If so, is there an MSP that covers this situation or with MAPs are you liable for these costs. (Hospitals can place liens!)

As I approach age 65, I am being bombarded with so many 'Sign up for Medicare' and Medicare Advantage Plans advertisements -- enrollment forms are continually being sent to my house by different insurance companies as well as clogging my social media that it has made me nearly paralytic with anxiety, knowing that I am soon going to have to deal with this. Matt, thanks so much for making it easier to understand the alphabet soup of medicare. It is my understanding that here in Washington state I would not have to undergo underwriting if I were to switch from an Advantage plan to a Supplemental plan, nor would I have to undergo underwriting for switching between Supplemental plans. (seems to good to be true)
@MedigapSeminars
@MedigapSeminars Жыл бұрын
That's mostly true. "In Washington State, any Medicare beneficiary who already has a Medicare supplement, except Plan A, can switch to another supplement except Plan A at any time and without medical underwriting. A Medicare beneficiary with Medigap Plan A can only switch to a Medigap Plan A from a different insurer. *The above only applies to those who have an existing Medicare supplement plan. To switch from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medicare supplement plan a person will likely need to qualify via medical underwriting.* " www.insurance.wa.gov/when-can-i-sign-or-switch-medigap-plans
