Zen master Kosen Thibaut gives us his scathing view of current Zen practice.
Zen is a fashion, and I am not interested in it. True Zen is not a church, it is a school, and the teaching transmitted by the Buddhas is simple. "I practice zazen. I practice the teaching transmitted by the Buddhas, which is a treasure of humanity" "I think all religions, all churches, are against human beings. They are churches. I don't like that." "It's a horrible thing that kills the truth".
True Zen is useless! French Zen Master Stephane Deshimaru was a close disciple and one of Master. Deshimaru, who passed away in 2009.
"We did the ceremony, I remained very concentrated and impassive. Then we put the coffin in a car. With four disciples, I was the last one," he recalls, "and I pushed the coffin on a cart. At the last moment, I started to cry and I couldn't stop." You are alive, but you are dead. When you die, you see your whole life flash by. We are already looking at our whole life, right now.
