Thanks for making this. I have been wanting to get a real color difference between larger normal medium format and full frame and this does that

The lack of a viewfinder takes the Phase One off my 'must have' list even if it were on sale. Nice video.. thank you.

Thanks for imparting some of your skill and knowledge in this video. And yes, the colour from the Phase One has opened my eyes to what is possible.

Well done! You demonstrated that really well. It isn't just pixels that makes the difference and your comment at the end about you could get similar results from the full frame, if yountry is also very true!

Thank you for this comparison. It would be great to see the color and tonal differences after a custom profile was made for each camera using your X-rite color checker and Capture One.

That was an impressive performance. PhaseOne, which I can never afford, and a FULL FRAME camera. To match the results I would create a colour profile ... or live with the slightly less saturated version of the full frame camera. Personally, I would have no comparison. It was once an interesting comparison for me, but without any practical use ;-)

I'm curious about the pixel density. Would a full frame camera with a higher pixel count give similar results as the medium frame camera? Very interesting video, thanks so much.

Glad you found it interesting. To a certain degree the pixel count is irrelevant to the final look. It is the architecture of the sensor in the camera which gives the medium format look.

Would a ef sr 50meg or higher, camera compare in quality to the p1
@CameraClubLive
@CameraClubLive 5 ай бұрын
No not really, it's more about the architecture of the sensor, wide dynamic range, colour depth, than the pixel count. Thanks for watching.

I’m no pro, but my preference is for the full frame. I like the contrasty look better than the more muted, albeit more accurate, tones of the medium format photo.

And of course, those of us (all of us?) watching via video captured by computer, edited by computer, streamed from another computer to our own computer and displayed on a probably uncalibrated monitor have absolutely no idea what the "accurate" colour should be! I think I'm with you in preferring the more contrasty DSLR version.

I think you should have sized them images to "fit window," and set the P1 to 3x2 instead of its native 4x3. There's also the likelihood "about the same" is not good enough for this comparison. I think you needed a Canon zoom to make an exact match for the area covered by the P1. Eventually, you showed is two megapixels images. That really helps us compare twenty from one with eighty from the other. Better colour? I don't see that. Mind you, with all that jumping around with different sizes, I can't be sure. Same size, a, b. A,b. A,b. Like your optometrist. I think you saw what you wanted to see.

100W tungsten isn't the same as 100W tungsten. Yors run from 110VAC, outs (when we had them) from 240VAC. I researched the light output, they differ. We need lumens. Watts is good for circuit design, battery capacity estimation. It's not a measure of light output.

Sensor is twice the size? Would something like the Xrite (now Calibrate) Color Checker Passport straighten out the color? Quality indeed but without the customer base or the winning Power Ball lottery ticket, not worth the extra $60k!

The phase one sensor is approximately 1 1/2 times the physical size of a full frame sensor. Thank you for your comments.
