Thank you for this well explained lecture. It has been very helpful. The view of the hand 9:55 is A PA it's referred to as a Dorsi palmar view of the Hand.The x-rays enters the hand of the patient through the Dorsal aspect(posterior part) of the hand and exit through the Palmar aspect(The Anterior Part).This explains why it is a PA and not AP view of the hand.

Could you please explain how to identify the x-ray of upper limb as right or left
@topgames2619
@topgames2619 2 жыл бұрын
I know its 4 months late....... But just in case someone else comes looking for this....... First u need to focus whterr the xray is showibg anterior or posterior aspect.... Once u figure that out..... Rest is easy... Just check the thumb and little finger position...... Also, one should take care rgarding one thing.... Its rare but an xray might be taken of a pronated forearm..... For that u can focus on things like.... The trochanters or the postion of radius and ulna.. If radius is crossing the ulna then arm is pronated....

@MedSchoolGrammar
@MedSchoolGrammar 3 жыл бұрын
Epiphysis will be seen in younger children where the bone isn't fused yet. In such a case you will see a clear line of demarcation between the epiphysis and diaphysis. If you send us an email (grammarofmed@gmail.com) asking this question, we can send you an image of X-rays showing diaphysis for more clarity. Hope this helps!☺️

Thanks di. But how to identify which film is AP and PA??
@MedSchoolGrammar
@MedSchoolGrammar 3 жыл бұрын
In clinical practice it is the AP view that is used for hand and foot, and it is these films provided to you for identification in viva exams too. So it is safe to assume in all cases that the given film is an AP view of the hand. What you need to identify is the side (right or left). In clinical practice, the view, location and side will be mentioned on the film so you will not have to worry about identifying it
