Yay Gaia! We have a bunch of dillos that lived behind our house along with possums and other critters. They are my friends but I give them space and they give me space. But we wave hi to each other.

Wow, I clicked on this video so fast...I love armadillos! They are so cool. It's neat that she can live with Mimi so both of them can feel the pressence of other creatures without having to interact - like they would if they lived in the wild. Just because they are solitary doesn't mean they should have to live isolated. They don't in the wild. Thanks for sharing!

It's interesting that so many different animals, including insects, have the same reflex of making a ball when there is danger. Even humans might do it if physically attacked even if our natural protection in that position, our rib cage, is not as good for the job as armor or spines.

She looked rather awkward the way you were holding her, but I wouldn’t know any better way to hold her so I guess I’ll trust that that’s the comfiest/safest way. I think it’s just the way that she’d look around by opening up more, and then kinda flop back to the relaxed partway urolled position. I love the way she moves in general. Plus going full sphere is crazy impressive.

So your finger got trapped how much force can they exert on their shells are they like a armor plated mousetrap? Gaia likes eating bugs I'm assuming you don't give her wild insects to eat. Do you farm your own bugs or do you buy them from the pet store. You could consider starting a vermaculture compost bin or bins. Like another KZfaq channel I watch called ants Canada he has to feed his ants he gives the mealworms and cockroaches pre-killed.

Could you use something like a pair of cotton buds for this kind of situation in the future? It’s a very different animal but a similar situation; I use a long necked brush for my Labradors’ back teeth for the same reason. Shadow likes to clamp down on things that hit his molars and refuses to let go. It doesn’t hurt, but it can leave me stuck for a while.

Especially if the hedgie is over a year old and never had his teeth brushed before.. I need to take care of his mouth I just don’t know how he will take to teeth brushing. Any tips for brushing a Hedgehog’s lil teeth? Thank you for all the adorable videos you make! Super informative and fun to watch :) Take Care xx

(Maybe this will get seen here) during your bird video, you said it was normal for pet birds to molt, but the yellow headed amazon we have had for 10 years now has NEVER molted before. Is that normal for amazons?
@animalwondersmontana
@animalwondersmontana 6 жыл бұрын
All birds molt. Some birds have more significant molts where they lose a large portion of their old feathers and you can see all the new ones coming in. Other birds will only lose a few at a time so it's not as obvious. You'll be able to tell even the ones that only lose a few at a time because you'll find the old feathers on the floor or area where they hang out.

I know wild Armadillos are often carriers of leprosy, is there special medical treatment or testing you had to go through to make sure Gaia wasn't a carrier?
@animalwondersmontana
@animalwondersmontana 6 жыл бұрын
Chris Helvey Out of the 20 species of armadillos, only 9 Banded Armadillos can carry leprosy. Gaia is a 3 Banded Armadillo, so she cannot be a carrier.
