Great interview. Many Ghanaian youths need to learn and adopt this man's mindset. Just because you were born and grew up in Ghana doesn't mean you should limit yourself to Ghana. It's very possible to build capacity in Ghana and take global.

Truly speaking, it's really difficult to move back home (Ghana) permanently when you've lived abroad for a while. You have to consider soo many things. Healthcare, frequent flow of water, constant supply of electricity and gas, broadband (WiFi) good roads and transportation system and a whole whole lots of good things. You can't compare those things over here to Ghana at.

@Giftysam all the things u listed as factors why u can't move back to ghana is not a problem at all,I have stayed in New York 13yr good years I came back to gh 2020 and I never feel like coming back to NY again, cos 1st of all where I live in ghana now I have never experienced power out for an overnight be4,neither have I witness water not flowing for more than a day and I have extra water storage tanks, I do go to private hospitals here anytime am not feeling good, trust me the services I get is the same I use to get from NY.I have broadband internet which is working 24/7 with no interruption The perception Ghanaians outside have for ghana is 80% wrong at times,my kids came last summer and they enjoyed their stay and they still coming back this summer again.I think if u want to be comfortable here u have to create that comfort u need.

I was teaching in a secondary school in Viëtnam where my own primary school I had in Accra before traveling to Viëtnam has better enviroment than that of Vietnam. If there is any job offer ready to give even $500 . 80% of teachers I know in Viëtnam would run come back home. Let stop these kind of exagration which deceives people to come and regret in Viëtnam. I have eqally qualified teachers like you who came to Viëtnam and returned wirhin months. Ghana is our country and let stop stop these kind of negative mentality we always have . I just returned from the same place you are living in Viëtnam after working there for almost 2 years

He is narrating the story from his own perspective and he is entitled to do that ,when you also get the opportunity come and tell us what you also went through For the past 20 years the country in which we live keeps sinking and nothing seem to be done about it , let come together and speak truth to power instead of defending almost everything cos if we don't say it , as shallow as our leaders are they will think they are doing enough

Traveling to teach in Asia is good but can be complicated especially if you want to teach English , currently it’s better you teach subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, etc . I think Vietnam and Thailand is is a friendly environment for black folks , I’ve lived and work in China for over 6 years and most of the things he is saying is true in terms of incentives and work environment but few black folks get good opportunities due to racism … you can go to Vietnam and the others compared to China bcos it’s not hard getting work permit , don’t let anyone discourage from trying opportunities outside Ghana , bcos it’s better than Ghana . I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve gotten from living in China . Only envious people will insult this guy . My guy enjoy your life and stop trying to convince Ghanaians , they judge before they do anything.

The presenter asked the question as if he is not aware of payments not paid for months. It happens to teachers, nurses, and almost fresh government workers. Back in 2001, my SSS headmaster had to lend money to fresh teachers just for their upkeep. It's a shame and this thing must be solved till it affects our children.

You should have asked him how much Vietnamese licensed professional teachers, policemen and soldiers and other gov't workers are paid in Vietnam, you should have asked if the gov't workers in Vietnam are able to live in that apartment that he is living. See, he is working in Vietnam as an International Expert, it is normal in every country, international experts in Ghana earn far more than all Gov't workers in Ghana. If you want to make comparison of teaching in Ghana and teaching in Vietnam, ask him of how much Vietnamese citizens receive as teachers and compare it to how much Ghanaians receive as teachers in Ghana and then, you can make a fair comparison. Vietnamese local professional teachers receive salary between 5 million VND to 8 million VND, which is about $200 to $300. So, I do not certainly understand this comparison, if in Ghana, we need Chinese teachers or any other expertise that we do not have in our country and we import, we will definitely pay far more salary and give them better conditions of service than the locals, just think about it.

He spoke as an English-speaking professional where he uses English as a language of instruction, the same thing he was doing in Ghana. He compared his own experiences. And he gave a sound advice - 'Get adequately trained, look for people who'll place more value on your services'.. I don't think it's out of place if he compares how he was treated in Ghana and wherever he is now. Maybe you could tap from his advice..

Gideon, how much salary you receive depends a lot on the value the payer places on your services. Vietnamese licensed teachers teach Vietnamese subjects in Vietnamese. The Vietnamese employers place more value on English teaching and International Curriculum subjects. I think this can help you understand that your analyses up there is unfounded.

Nice interview. However it is sad to find joy in someone else's country than yours. It is a clear sign there are a lot of things wrong with our country.

There are reasons why our souls took part to experience this world of riches and pleasure. One is to help solve the issues and problems in whereever we find ourselves to be. We have to have a positive about Ghana in spite of its challenges and make effort to make if great and strong.

Africa is just a proud place with bunch of proud people, fighting each other. We always think our respective countries are better than our neighbors, that’s all we do. We disrespect everyone us, our neighbors, Asian countries, etc. I told someone about Uruguay one day and he was like WTF, Uruguay ? No way. Meanwhile you can’t compare Montevideo with all these capital cities in west east and South Africans countries. We are a joke and until we understand that, we won’t develop for real for real. Malaysia Thailand Vietnam etc are all advanced, Singapore is already all the way up up up. It will disrespectful you even start comparing Singapore and any African country at all.
