Sports fans are familiar with the University of Oregon's iconic mascot, The Duck, but not many people know of their rarely seen unofficial co-mascot, Mandrake. Photo: AP

I was at that basketball game in 2003. He ran out across a corner of the court and then vanished into the locker room. It was insane. I thought I was seeing things.

Because he was a replacement for The Duck. That would’ve been a terrible replacement Oregon fans definitely hated it The Duck is way too iconic now anyways

No officially. That's just a nickname. "Puddles" was an actual real duck that was the mascot in the 1920s.

I am laughing so hard right now remembering this; it is just so effing ridiculous! I kinda hope they bring him back for like one game randomly and just don't tell anyone ahead of time. If they did that I think people would absolutely love it for the nostalgia. It's almost so bad it's good.

Texas Tech has 3 mascots the masked rider , and raider red , the 3rd is a rare one , it doesn’t make many appearances at all. It is called the Matador🕺🏻

Coral Lee Hubbard the original original live animal mascots name was puddles. The feathered but job we have now is named The Duck.

I was on campus when that alternate Duck was created in the school paper. If memory serves his name was Drake Mallard (pronounced Mull-lard). As I remember him, he was Joe Cool, friendly, up beat and everybody's laid back idol. I certainly don't remember him as angry or mean. There was even a campus wide vote to replace Donald with Drake that failed on a close vote. I don't like the RoboDuck character either. But a laid back Drake Mallard hanging out in the student section cheering and schmoozing would have been cool.

Doro That is what happened, except UO had accidentally strayed from the agreement terms which hadn't been an issue until they ended up in court. Mainly the case was being able to use the duck for more events since the disney license limited public use (+ it was just strict in general) and they wanted to dodge other discrepancies.

@@jamisons9971 Never said they did, they intermediate the other team to get the upper advantage, and as stated in the video, the duck was still the original mascot, meaning puddles would take care of the fans and mandrake on both scaring the players and using his acrobatic skills to entertain the fans
