My son had a voyage a couple of months ago under this captain, he had a great time there learned loads and was full of praise for the staff and especially the captain and chief engineer!

My time in the Sea Cadets will always be remembered as the best years . A week spent at RN/RAF Lossiemouth aged 14 changed my life completely. I assisted the pilot of the Royal De Havilland Dove on take off , sat in the cockpit of a Shackleton reconnaissance aircraft and saw the last Fairey Gannets fly . Thiat was a real trip down a wonderful memory lane . Incidentally, i became a boat builder , worked in Australia , Ireland and now in France All thanks to the Sea Cadets .

Lt Cameron Fisher is a fabulous ambassador for the Royal Navy and especially the Sea Cadet organisation. Great video as usual, Nick and very informative.

Not generally a huge fan of the "meet the owner" style episodes but I did find this one very interesting, it's great to have an insight to vessels which wouldn't normally be easily accessible to the general public and find out about the organisation. The CO is a credit to the service, obviously passionate about his role with the cadet service and as would be expected for his role on the ship, very knowledgeable of his vessel... comes accross as a highly competent and professional officer and I'm sure he will be very successful in his career.... Great job Nick!

I was a sea cadet during the 80s . There was one sailing ship TS Royalist and feet tender. This is a an amazing kitted out boat. As a young person who didn't have holidays sea cadets gave me so many skills for life and a break from the norm. No gas in the galley that is amazing luxury. Engine room was of interest as I did a engineering specialisation. Thanks for sharing this. Good to see Sea cadets still providing wonderful experiences for our young people who often don't live near the coast or have the finances as these week long trips are normally very affordable.

As an enlisted man in the United States, Coast Guard, I served four years on board the sailing ship, Coast Guard cutter Eagle That is used for training Coast Guard cadets so I find this video extremely interesting and enjoying it very much thank you kindly God bless

I was a cadet in the 70,s taught me discipline & respect,even learning to iron your uniform,in those days we still wore 18in bell bottoms,& you had to iron seven horizontal creases in them to represent the seven seas ,my grandparents were proud when we paraded through the high st on remembrance Sunday great times.

What a great tour and organization to help youth, an absolute worthwhile project.

Way back in the sixties and seventies, I always enjoyed extended summer holidays in dear old Weymouth, seventeen summers to be exact. At that time, Weymouth Sea Cadets moored a dozen or so sail/oar wooden whalers just beneath the Nothe Fort. Often, when out in my own boat, they would be seen sailing out in the bay, having a whale? of a time. When revisiting Weymouth in 2015, all of them had gone. Surely, with fuel prices so high, together with environmental considerations, Weymouth Sea Cadets should return to using rag/muscle-powered whalers. The cadets would also benefit from these healthy outdoor activities. On a similar vein, There are thousands of small GRP sailing boats languishing in muddy creeks around the UK which could/should be pressed into use for the same purpose. Another thought provoking video Nick, thankyou.

That was a brilliant tour Nick, Cameron definitely knows is stuff, Some fascinating facts and figures as you toured the vessel, the accommodation is definitely sparse compared to what you normally show us even the captains cabin is no different. I think this is a great opportunity for the kids today to pursue I wish I had.

An AMAZING organisation, and I wasn't even a Sea Cadet. I was however a Marine Cadet. Got agreement to join at 11 ( Marine Cadets were restricted to being aged 12 and up back then). Learnt many life skills & in my case it allowed me to escape a highly abusive household. Many a weekend exercise, the big summer week away. There was a time I spent nearly as much time on HMNB Whale Island as I did anywhere else. Worked my way up to RYA Lvl 4. Won a spot on a course at RNAS Culdrose & won the cadet award whilst there. 10 days at Raleigh experiencing things that still make me smile to this day, like the vessel damage simulator getting blasted by gallons of freezing water a second whilst trying to jack up an RSJ & a plank to stem the flow. I enjoyed it so much I went on to find myself in 539 Assault RM for 7 years.

That’s fantastic. A stunning ship. A Great Captain and a great organisation. Refreshing comparison from the seemingly disarray of the UK’s public life. This type of organisation is a power house to creating strong, independent and disciplined young people.

Thanks Nick. I was in the SCC in the 70s and achieved my ‘Offshore Power Hand’ badge on an old Motor Fishing Vessel (MFV) which was based in Thorne so you had to go down a canal and the Humber Estuary to get to sea. The SCC did me the world of good and set me up for an amazing professional life

A different kind of boat tour but a very pleasant one,it was interesting to see things differently. The Navy has a variety of roles and The Sea Cadets helps to make a difference to a number of folk across the country. It was interesting to see the simple approach to everything and seeing Perkins engines again brought back a few memories. As of "now" I haven't finished with the tour but this is absolutely fascinating ! Learned something new as to why the head is called the head, at the head of the ship. How wonderful. Thank you for bringing this one to us. I was a Royal Sea Cadet in Canada in my youth. That's where I first learned to sail. RCSCC LION in Hamilton Ontario, formation date of 1917. It's the oldest continuously operating Sea Cadet Corps in Canada. The Navy League of Canada celebrated the centennial of Sea Cadets in 2018. Fascinating to see how it's done across the pond :-)

I rewatched this video. As always great tour. However, I believe this is your best yet! Both for the double mirror wave, but how important this is to the young people of the UK.

They do great work, kids today need to get out and do things and being a cadet or a sea cadet can surely be life changing for many. To learn to interact and work as a team is not something one learns sitting alone behind a screen, whatever are we thinking with the way things are done today? The organisations that provide what young people need deserve all the funding they can get so helping with the funding or donating our time is the least we can do. Well done Nick, for reminding us all about the important things in life. And using your platform and influencer skills to raise awareness of things important!

Loved this! Lt Fisher was very interesting & knowlegable. I myself was a cadet here in New Zealand in the 70's, before going on to serve in the Naval Reserves for 30+ years. The experiences I had in the cadets were hugely influential in my later life.

Great tour and intro to British Naval history and training infrastructure. After WWII, Aviation and Naval training and interests were made clear as important for the very survival every nation, so programs like this one (Sea Cadets) were built to forward national expertise in both. Great programs, tour, and video Nick!!

2 of my cousins were in the sea cadets, 1 of them became a Chief Petty Officer in the R.N. at a very young age.

Great vid, Nick, and a great opportunity for children to learn about the sea and discipline. One "tiny" niggle, after serving for over 11 year's in the Royal Navy, I was disappointed to see the Skipper going down the step's backwards!!! My way would involve "face for'ard, hands on rail, slide down, only touching the bottom step"!! Keep up the good work mate.

Very nice, a very large step up from the old MFV 777 which I went on as a sea cadet many many years ago. Was a wonderful trip from Dartmouth to St Peter Port, a great experience for a teenager.

Nick, absolutely bang on about the modern generation, bedroom, laptop scenario, i was only talking about this in the pub the other day. Sea Cadets, Air Cadets, Army Cadets or CCF at some schools is a must for teenagers to get involved with. If they can all do a few years of this then i dont see the need for 'National Service' affair. Im speaking as a former CCF cadet and Army Veteran.

My home towns sea cadets won the band competition many times. They used to play whilst marching along the beautiful promenade by the beach every weekend!

Near vertical stairs save a *lot* of space. And keep you fit too! I was very interested in the man-overboard recovery crane. People don't realise the weight and difficulty getting a MOB back on board. Terrific set up for a 3 decker. Great video, Nic.
