At the University of Texas, Dr. Kate Biberdorf is breaking stereotypes and blowing stuff up-all in a good pair of heels. Through her theatrical and dynamic approach to teaching, Dr. Biberdorf is breaking the stigma of what a stereotypical scientist looks like, while reaching students that might otherwise be intimidated by chemistry. By making waves within her field and empowering the next generation to get involved in STEM, she’s sending a message that any human can be a scientist.

is it kind of degrading to women that when a woman does something that takes skill they get praised endlessly for breaking a stereotype?

There are plenty of female chemistry teachers, so this isn't breaking stereotypes so much as reinforcing the idea there were stereotypes in the first place.

What stereotype? I’m a girl studying chemistry too, amongst hundreds of others at my college. Where’s my video?

I'm not offended because she's a woman I'm offended because that's all you seem to care about the fact that she's a woman. Can't we just say an amazing person. Gender is not the same as Talent.

Please tell my grandmother who worked as a chemist for Eastman Kodak in the thirty's and forty's to rejoice... the stereotype is broken and women are allowed to be chemists now.

This was just so amazing. This KZfaq channel never fails to disappoint. Words cannot describe how I felt when all of those explosions were occurring one after another.

Everyone who brings up "chemistry is not genderbiased, the video is pointless". Have you wathced the video, nowhere does it mention that she is special because she is a woman, she wants to break down the stereotype that science is boring/posh/nerdy

guys, the stereotypes she is ""blowing up" has nothing to do with gender... watch the video, it's about clothing choice:
