More than 17 years ago, the U.S. Navy christened the first of a new class of warship designed to operate in near-shore environments. The so-called Littoral Combat Ships or LCS would be fast and agile, capable of countering 21st-century coastal threats such as missile-firing boats, small submarines, and mines.

LCS ships can still be repurposed. Independence class LCS can be drone carriers due to their huge flight deck while Freedom class can be fitted with Adaptable Deck Launchers ADL giving it more punch.

It really depends on if they are expecting war to come to our shores or not. If they are then lcs ships would be very handy. The independence variant has already been scrapped due to the hull cracking under every day use due to the aluminum hull.

And Kennedy taking that tip and tried to cut back on war is one of the two prongs of why he was killed: The refutation of the MIC and Kennedy DEMANDING that Israel open up their nuclear weapons site at Dimona for inspections or face losing their American taxpayer largess of almost $4 BILLION a year. Israel Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion resigned in the face of Kennedy's demands. There's one thing you don't do: mess with Israel's defense OR their U.S. foreign aid (the highest per capita in aid from the U.S., and while Israel is flush with gov't reserves of over $200 billion... and with many wealthy jewish billionaires citizens ) or else the Mossad/jewish mafia will aid the CIA/MIC to remove the "pebble from their shoe."

LCS will not become obsolete in my lifetime. They are easily upgradable and serve multiple purposes. Just my opinion, if it means anything!

Sure why not... They could stick the AGS system from the failed destroyer line they had researched. that gun system could then have mass produced ammo for 40 plus ships all bearing drones missiles and cannon firing at 10 rounds a minute roughly. Maybe even stick some guns on it

I was offered a job on this project a while back. I didn't take it tho, because I'd have been so deep in *literal* combat with my ex, who also worked at the same location; I'd have no time in my life to think about littoral combat. That and Florida wages are awful.

I know from firing a round in to the water that as soon as it hits the water the round developed a bubble of air at the tip under water. To decrease drag of the water could it be possible to push air out the front of the sub to achieve higher speed under water?

The combining gear issue I believe was solved and I honestly think we would benefit from employing more surface warfare freedom class ships for coastal defense (in addition to the current anti piracy and drug smuggling) as the coast guard is in a poor state

$500 million mistake, when I was in the Navy and these came out there was nothing but complains about them from my fellow mechanics. They're ineffective, break often, and are essentially a huge shore patrol boat. Should have tried harder to find the littoris

Strategy is flawed. New thinking is needed. Todays war has shown that overwhemling swarm drones at extreme volumes can overcome all current countermeasures. 100 mil can build 10000.
