Would it? The appropriate SI unit here is Newtons as kilograms are a measure of mass, not force. It is easier to explain this to a general audience in terms of g-force. Which is why they did.

There is a lake near my town that an air force base used to practice drive bombing runs at during ww2. Every once in a while observers would watch the plane dive down, then coast into a cliff along the lake. They had absolutely no idea what was happening because nobody ever survived, and the plane wasn't keeping data such as vital signs as they do today. Took them many years and many pointless accidents to realize that the pilots were actually pulling up too hard and going into g-lock.

I haven’t calculated this negative acceleration (or one like it from one of Dr. Stapp’s other tests) since the fall of 1978, when I was in eleventh grade. We had a homework problem in our high school physics textbook that featured one of Dr. Stapp’s rocket sled tests. The next day our physics teacher introduced a guest speaker to us: Dr. John Paul Stapp. Alamogordo usually was not very exciting or cool to us kids, but at times like that it was an amazing place to be.

I mean Jesus, is no one going to comment on the fact that the guy experienced over 40g's of force on his body, and survived? Considering the fact that calcium makes up a tiny, tiny fraction of all the elements in our body it really does just go to show how strong bones are.

I'm from the US and use both systems all the time. My engineering classes mostly use 32 ft/s^2 instead of 9.8 m/s^2. Anyways, I just think the comments are hilarious where everybody is complaining about not using metric and the others are saying just google the conversion. The really funny part are those that convert 7700lbs to 3492kg. Yeah, the guy's mass did not change so this a bad conversion. The real conversion should be into Newtons which are units of force just like pounds. The imperial unit of mass is slugs not pounds. So anyways, metric is superior, you could just use google to convert, but make sure to do it correctly before you act high and mighty.

Slamming to a full stop in 1.4 seconds after reaching 632 miles per hour would subject you to -20.58 Gs. If you were traveling at 632 meters per second on the other hand (faster than sound at 1,413.7 miles per hour) and slammed to a full stop in 1.4 seconds, THEN you'd experience -46 Gs. But that doesn't make -20.58 Gs much better, especially considering the fact that the average person can only handle 9 Gs for a few seconds.

First: We did not 'meet' him. There was no interview or whatever. Second: I once met a trick who tricked me with his weirdness I walked a thousand miles and still for kilos of meters people followed him rather than me that got me thinking: 'G, I did it mile way but his or hers was better' In other words: Use the metric system :*

I'm American, and for the sake of our reputation, don't make other countries mad at us for using the customary system, use the metric system.
