Meteorites once they have been found requires classification, most of the time it's not known if a particular meteorite is of any significance until it's been to a lab for study. It's far easier to set a standard sell price based on the finds not being classified and no research done on them. They don't know what they have at the time of purchase. If they did it would be ethically and morally wrong to buy something worth $1million at the price set. It would mean the bedouin traders would need to have a laboratory to earn the money associated with significant finds.
