Bobo Hill is home to the Bobo Shanti, or Bobo Ashanti, House of Ras Tafari. Known for their peaceably militant interpretation of Marcus Garvey’s teachings, the Bobo have been popularized by many dancehall artists who proclaim an affiliation. Paramount to Bobo philosophy and lifestyle are the ever-present themes of self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-respect.

It should be noted that Bobo is the most strict/militant/dogmatic of all the houses of Rasta. It should also be noted that H.I.M. Haile Selassie granted land for whoever wishes to repatriate physically back to Mama Africa. Place is called Shashamane. ❤ 💛 💚Blessings&Love ❤ 💛 💚

Chris let me teach you something There are three distinct orders of the Rastafari movement which hold different beliefs and symbols. These are: Bobo Ashanti (Bobo Shanti), Nyahbinji and the Twelve tribes. That’s why the Rastafari community is a bit confusing and contradicting and each community have different beliefs 👍

My only comment on this video is that to understand what was shared, you have to take yourself out of the equation and look at it from the context. Forcefully taken from their homeland and brought into bondage around the world, and long to go back to their rightful home, and the plea that they’re making to the world and the united nation to hear, and understand their plight. They are seeking equal rights and justice. I heard their ancestors crying for freedom. They still feel disenfranchise and feel like Jamaica is not their home.

So many people from Jamaica and other lands whose fore parents were taken from Africa have returned. Is delusional to think that the government or anyone else is going to send them back freely. They are free to return if they really want to. I know many people who have returned to many parts of Africa, I don't understand what's stopping these Rastas. They could be over there doing great things to help build up Ethiopia, instead they are in Jamaica complaining. They need to just go, go by ship if they don't want to take a plane but it will never happen if they're just sitting and waiting on officials to send them home.

Agreed. I watched this and I felt as if Chris Must List was almost taking it personally that these men were identifying with Africa. I got the vibe that it bothered him that they could see somewhere other than Jamaica as their home. The vibe was very European American I never really cared to know or think about this. Other than that It made me proud to be black.

This video is a wonderful tribute to the beauty and richness of Jamaican culture, and to the many people who have dedicated their lives to living according to the principles of Rastafarianism. It's a powerful reminder that there is much we can learn from other cultures, and that by opening ourselves up to new experiences and ideas, we can become more compassionate, more empathetic, and more connected to the world around us. one love Chris Must List

Chris, great job. These brethren are in a separation consciousness. All men are brothers. HIM said that, but they ignore his words on the brotherhood of man. What a shame they are living in bitterness and not in the true light of bliss that only comes through love for all. But that is their tough loss. I think they know that deep within but are denying their own conscience...but with love we'll teach them. For, in time, love conquers all. Blessings to all and thank you Chris.

Chris - I am a Zimbabwean and applaud you for this uncomfortable conversation. I have been to Jamaica once and i wish i had known about this place and visited. I would love to have conversations and interrogate them further. For example if they are so keen to return to Africa why are they not putting a concrete plan to return which I support if that is their heart wishes. My first interaction as a young man with a Jamaican was a little shocking because I was about 19 and then I had not travelled to all continents as i have done now. These guys asked me they wanted to buy some items and I pointed them to a shop. They asked me if it was black owned and i was like how would i know and there was a good chance it may be white owned even though the workers were black. They told me they did not want to spend a single cent on the continent of Africa with a white owned business. I have a lot of respect for Jamaicans and especially the men you spoke with. A lot of us blacks due to conditioning in our corporate or government jobs etc do not always say what it is we really feel and want to say when we interact with white people. I should say Nigerians are the same way too and hence most people know not to clown them in their face wherever they are in this world. There is a lot of hurt we associate with white people due to slavery and colonization. At the same time my logical part holds me back because i know it is probably less than 1% of people who descend from slave owners, colonizers etc so you just have to have grace. I wish somehow there was a way they really would be able to fulfill their dreams. Kudos to you for not taking things personal as they were speaking of the group and the white power structure. I think even today the average Afghani or Iraqi will have negative views of America the country but not necessarily the people because we know who causes and starts wars on both sides.

The white power is not all white people. But the power lies in some white people. In that regard, they say nothing wrong. All other races bow to the white anywhere you observe that in the world.

@@jackmupatule-gi6yg Exactly. Flights are not that expensive these days so they should find a way. I think the part that scares most is thinking that they don’t know anyone over there when in fact most Africans are very welcoming to all people.

The Rastafarians have the suggestion that Africa could send ships as they have the resources.

@@db6156 Which black African countries have a navy. Very few. That is a misguided view point. If any man wants something he should not sit around and wait for another person to do it. I always think of Rastafarians as being men who believe in Do for self not waiting on corrupt systems and governments to do for them. Maybe i am misguided too.

Love, Honor and Respect to Chirs Must List. We really love this program. The Rastastari at Bobo Hill have the real knowledge to get Black people back to our rightful home which is Ethiopia Africa because it is the biggest continent on the planet.
