The rapid influx of refugees from conflict areas such as Syria has overwhelmed European countries. The German government says they're welcome - but how are the refugees coping with their new lives?
"Sometimes when I'm walking in the street, people look at me in a bad way and say bad words in German", says Muhammad Ismail, who's been settled in Hoyerswerda, a region that's seen recent attacks on refugee housing by violent mobs of Neo-Nazis. At rallies in Dresden, there's praise for Australia's asylum policy of turning back the boats. "Instead of accepting them", says Jens Baur from the far right NPD party, "they send them back home".

These men appear to be over age 40 yet they left their families in unsafe Syria. A Syria that is so unsafe that one man calls his mother on an expensive cellphone for his favorite recipe. You are also not a refugee if you pass through several safe countries on the way to the country of your choice. That makes you an economic migrant or if you entered the US an illegal alien.

My well intended advice to all the Arabs (with muslim faith) who come to Europe. Whatever you do, do not wall yourself in your little ghettos, do not impose your Arabic (islamic) cultural norms onto the European populations, stop hating Christianity, stop blaming us for all of your problems and most importantly, integrate into our tolerant culture. That means that you must tolerate those who are not exactly the same as you are. Practice these well intended advices and everything will be fine for you. The main reason why so many native Europeans dislike you in their countries is exactly for those reasons. We in Europe are sick and tired of you walling yourself off inside Europe. You need to integrate. Otherwise, it will become much much worse for everybody here, both for you and for us.

+KlllrJay Not good planning. We need to plan for more and more refugees, and their families. Which means we'll need to reduce our numbers and consumption, etc., so we'll be sure and have plenty of food, housing and other necessities, as their families and population grow. The best plan would be to not have families or procreate much at all, which would assure the best refugee accommodation possible.

Why don't they stay home and fight like men? I served in my military and was ready for war at all times. I would never run and hide. To this day I'm ready for battle. My countrymen can sleep soundly at night because of people like me.

My father was a refugee he was a Cambodian who fought against the communist until the government lost he came here and became a citizen got a job and all that these people are cowards he left his family in a war zone and went there my brothers and sisters all was born in Cambodia except me I was born in California but anyways at least he was a man and brought his family with him he fought the commies they lost brought family here good man them didn't fight run from family

The commentator of this documentary is Australian. He needs to abdicate his citizenship immediately. Australia is one of the most via xenophobic racist countries in the world. The Australian government is about as vile as it gets, and most Australians follow lockstep in mistreating foreigners. I won't say 100% are this bad, but they need to choose now, not to be part of such an abhorrent system.

I was in Germany for a purpose. Socialism and immigration cannot go hand in hand. Better stay and contribute towards one's home country. In one way, I love my country now more than ever. Having said that, people stuck in a humanitarian crisis do need help and Germany is doing great.

How many times does it have to be said, you can't pick and choose where you want to go. If you're a refugee,you cease to be if you've travelled through many safe countries. If you're an economic asylum seeker you stay where you entered the EU and stay there if accepted,or be removed if you're not. Too many people expect to be given what other people have for free. No. You're a entitled to that. You work you're way up and pay for yourself like everyone else I'm afraid. And to keep having children when you can't feeed them and don't know where you're going to be, imo that makes you criminally negligent and children should be removed from you.

Well my friend when some of these people commit crimes and cause problems then that reflects bad on all of them. Eastern European countries are poor and we have to deal with it as well. In my country, rape crimes have sky rocketed. That leaves a bad taste and dislike for these people. Not all of them are bad but the sad part is that crimes do happen
