In this video I am visiting the Paiwan people, Taiwan's second largest ethnic group known for its head hunting in the past. Although nowadays the members of the tribe lives mostly in the cities, a small indigenous group behind the mountains still maintain their old traditions. I had to get permission from the shaman to enter their village. The oldest member of the tribe is Tjuku who is also the Pulingao, the spiritual leader. To be able to enter their land she offers sacrifices to ancestorial spirits. As we tour around the village we talk about what she does and her point of view on modern life's impact on her culture.
