Our Company labeled guns in a few different ways- from paint pens, to actual label maker stickers like you might find in the office. So our 240s for example had white stickers that actually said "GUN 1" or "GUN 2" - but I was light Infantry, I am not sure what those Stryker kids were up to. The one positive of 20+ years of war is the modeling opportunities are endless, if you can think it, it probably happened, no explanation necessary. That's why I love the way you included that Transformers decal 👍 keep up the great work my friend

We had a skull with a black beret on ours. The stenciling of the names was way too clean. Ours were always a bit off and done quickly. Dripping paint and so on. The tape is likely what you said. Some type of number of the vehicle, serial number, or both. How you find your equipment quickly out of the arms room.

Many thx mate! Im really happy that I have some guys from the military as my subscribers and viewers because your comments are very valuable and are inspiration and knowledge when finishing our models. I would make it the same but they are quite small and the only way I can make them are decals.This is a certain limitation but I think that next time I will do it more realistic, as you wrote :)

Always happy to help! I love your body of work and honestly have no advice I could share, I don't think you're doing anything that would need improving or that looks out of place. There were so many perspectives over the last 20+ years that again, I find it hard to imagine you doing something that could be objectively "unrealistic". While I agree that we're never as clean as the factory when it comes to hand applied stencil work, I know there is only so much you can do with decals. If I can at least provide some inspiration or context, I would say that the areas around crew hatches can get very stained. Something you're already doing based on your skills and your study of references, but if I could share some background- we live in those turrets for hours if not days, eat and drink there, maintain the weapons there, it can get pretty messy, especially with rough road conditions. And that CARC paint is a dead flat paint, so just like you'd expect with modeling, the real paint is very prone to staining. Especially things like gun oil or sugary energy drinks, and MRE food, BBQ sauces... Splatter effects, drips, dried puddles of who knows what. And even in the Middle East, there is enough moisture in the air to cause small paint chips to oxidize and rust, but the heavy contact areas like lips of turrets or hatchet and gun shields were certainly a bright polished metal. Know too that the US ships the vehicles overseas once and then as units constantly rotate through over the years, they inherit these vehicles and eventually pass them on to their replacement units. Markings can be sprayed over and over again dozens of times depending on the age of the vehicle. Especially things like crew names or non-standard unit markings. There was only a transient sense of ownership at best. I deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 and 2014 and by then, my unit was collectively very complacent. As decades of upgrades had occurred on these vehicles, old remnants of original hardware, antenna bases, wiring, it all remained. It was easier to just add more wires when new radio mounts were bolted on as opposed to trying to rip out all the older components. So interiors and even some exterior areas could quickly become a rats nest. New GPS units and satellite antennas would never match the base paint for example. And we never washed more than the underside of the vehicles while we were there, our sense of ownership was minimal as we constantly had older vehicles go in for maintenance that were easier to replace than fix. We took care of our weapon systems but let the MRAPs get beat up. I imagine Bradley crews were better with their vehicles than we were with our trucks though, again, just because we were light Infantry and spent as much time on foot or in helicopters as we did driving the main roads in the MRAPs. And early war discipline was likely much higher than when it devolved over decades to more of a wild west of combat fatigued standards that had clearly slipped over time. So more recent vehicles and equipment can realistically look much worse than say something from the early 2000s. Take care my friend!

A fantastic result with the Stryker Lucasz! This looks to be a very interesting subject, but a little beyond my skills at the moment. The weathering techniques are amazing, as usual, and really make the model stand out. Great work as usual my friend, and we are looking forward to your next project. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 !

That looks grand, very realistic. That rear white marking on the M2 Browning looks like a guide marking where to attach the mount for the optic. The frontward white stripe should be a label with writing on it, it says warning, headspacing timing must be performed after barrel replacement, etc.

Beautiful build and finish. I love the way you used the oils on the upper surface to show dust accumulation. Question: Why aren't the tow shackles on Strykers either not painted green or painted in another color?
@coldemonspl
@coldemonspl Ай бұрын
Many thx. You know, it is quite popular tnat the shackels are in different color. I noted it on different vehicles in different countries. And on the model is one more point to build contrast and eyecatching. You are the example that I reach the point! :)

Another high quality model. Well done! Quick question though. Those two swing arms at either side towards the rear, the ones you've covered with tarp and tape. What are they called and what are they used for?
