Man I'm so glad you talked at such length about the Brown Anole and that it's invasive as heck. AND that it's taking food and habitat from the Green Anoles. I live in Orlando so as soon as I saw your video about Florida lizards I was like SHE BETTER TALK ABOUT THOSE DANG BROWN ANOLES. But it is really interesting how quickly green anoles are evolving to combat the habitat theft. I have a lot of feelings about our Florida Anoles

I moved from the Pacific Northwest to Houston 20 years ago. Green anoles were everywhere. Friendly companions all around our home and garden. Everywhere in the neighborhood. Aaah, so happy to see this! I live in Florida and have fallen in love with the anoles. A brown anole (Elend) was my first rescue and reignited my love for reptiles. Now I'm starting up a small reptile rescue! They really are underrated, they're very smart, a bit of food and a specific sound and you can have a pack ready to visit you at a moment's notice. I'm glad to see that they're becoming less common in pet shops, they're amazing pets but definitely need more care than what's prescribed. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Florida!

I've lived in Florida my whole life. Never put much thought into these extremely common lizards until I got older Caught a brown anole many years ago back when I was a kid. Lizard was young. Lasted several years in captivity. Even grew comfortable around humans. Was nice seeing such a common thing in the spotlight. Almost brings a sense of satisfaction due to the familiarity, for what ever reason.

What an informative video! I came here to look up this lizard I found in my yard that looks like a snake (never seen before), yet learned a lot! I’m also from cent-ral Florida and the brown anoles are almost friendly. I used to have a tame one that came to greet me every morning and hang out, that lived in the base of my patio umbrella holder. I had him for years till we moved. I now have another one that comes to greet me that lives in my Yucca tree on my back porch, he is there a few times a week. I’m surprised that this is the first time Ive really noticed the 5 lined skinks, maybe it was because it was so large!

That's so awesome you did a FL lizards video! The brown ones are everywhere! You can't walk down a sidewalk without dozens of them skittering away from sunning themselves. They get pretty big in our backyard. It actually seems weird when I go other places not to see them all the time, I've had friends from out of state visit and comment on all the lizards lol. They do seem good about being caught once you scoop them, once they feel your hand warmth they tend to like to stay. Sadly I don't think I've ever seen a green one :( I do have a lot of affection for the 5 line skink, I was familiar with them as the blue tongue skink. I've definitely seen small light brown to clearish colored geckos and some other skinks. It always make me happy when I see other types of lizards besides just the brown anoles. I find often summer evenings or nights if you have your porch light on, attracting bugs, the lizards and frogs will come out and take advantage of it. It's also a delight to see the bats come out at dusk (you have to be in the right area to see them). Get those mosquitoes!! I've always been that person who's like "oh wow look at that little lizard! Look at that moth! Look at that caterpillar!" Maybe funny story. When I was in high school we saw a turtle in the road (I'm not sure what kind.) We decided to move him over closer to a nearby lake. So my friend was driving, and I picked him up and held him in the passenger seat. But he started to pee on me! So I held him out the window. There was a line of turtle pee all down the street. I don't know how he had that much pee. We did set him down in the grass nearer the lake.

I admire lizards. My parents’ place here in Florida is surrounded by palm trees and all kinds of plants that spiders would love. Unfortunately for the spiders, there are lizards everywhere. I recently moved into a brand new apartment and noticed the absence of lizards since the bushes around the buildings were still too small for them to live in. But 4 months later the lizards are showing up and eating the wolf spiders :)

A lot of lizards live in my yard, and when I come home from school I always walk slowly so I won't step on them when they run around.

Where i live in florida we have the african rainbow lizard(redhead agama) and curly tail lizards. They only started showing up within the last 5 years or so and now they are EVERYWHERE. To see a brown anole is almost rare now but to see a green anole is something truly special .
